Nikhat Hetavkar (nikbookchatter) | 403 comments My parents read me stories every night and as soon as I was able to read, I started reading myself and have been ever since. So, there was never any scope for change.

I started reading at the age of 5, before then mom used to tell stories- awesome ones, mostly her own creations . Dad used to take me book shopping even at a very young age, never restricted my buying
it has definitely made me empathetic and tolerant towards all sorts of people, and am never lonely. I always have imaginary conversations going in my head.

Meetasha Rathi (meetasharathi) Reading has always been a kind of entertainment for me which I preferred over movies or tv, but gradually it has also become a way of understanding different perspectives of life. Although its the author's story I am reading but the interpretation in my head makes it very personal.

Reading (to me) brings new ideas, understanding of different cultures and helps me articulate myself better.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

I started reading Asterix and Tintin at the age of 8. Loved the world of comics and gradually matured to Blyton, Hardy Boys and Perry Mason.
Reading gives a great alternate world which gives me reprieve from day to day mundane. And lot of travel (for job) gave me the ideal company of some great books.
I guess fiction helps me understand people better

I started reading when I was 11 or 12 when my aunt brought me Black Beauty, The Three Musketeers, The Little Women etc. Since then I love reading. Also, my pre-teenage years were not very pleasant. So books gave me hope and made my teenage period very easy.

TTPBM : How much books do you own?

message 6269: by Nikhat (new)

Nikhat Hetavkar (nikbookchatter) | 403 comments Mumbai. Its the city with undiscovered depths. The sheer amount of lives intertwined here would make a great setting for a love story.
And it is called the city of dreams, so it would also be perfect for penning an autobiography. Most People here live uniquely interesting lives.
I have been a Mumbaikar all my life and I believe an author must always write about what close to his/her heart.
