message 6134: by Nikhat (new)

Nikhat Hetavkar (nikbookchatter) | 403 comments I don't really read many biographies. On writing - Stephen King is semi-autobiographical and is one of the best non fiction I have read.

TTPBM: If you had to use one generic word to describe the people that surround you, it would be?

message 6135: by Prtsh (new)

Prtsh (mutated_insane) | 105 comments i dunno abt Generic but Frustrated is a word that is applicable to the entire nation atm..wid the whole "ab ki baar modi sarkar" nd "congress k haath" or some shit..
TTPBM: what's wrong with Indian tv?

message 6136: by Varshith (new)

Varshith | 1 comments what's not wrong with it?no new ideas, indian t.v is churning out the same crap year after year.
TTPBM:what do think about the new breed of indian authors?

message 6137: by Prtsh (new)

Prtsh (mutated_insane) | 105 comments I think they're fantastic. They seem to know what their readers want and are providing that unlike authors from an age gone by.The best part is their works are global in outlook with a very Indian heart.
TTPBM-will their ever come a time that indian politics and indian Tv'll be somewhat acceptable to an educated Indian youth?

message 6138: by Nikhat (new)

Nikhat Hetavkar (nikbookchatter) | 403 comments Maybe it will. But it may take decades. The politicians are focusing on religious sentiments. The day people start voting for their country and not their so called religious community is the day Indian politics would have evolved.
As for Indian tv, it will change when the typical SaaS-bahu shows stop getting the highest TRPs, its all a question of demand and supply. Indian television has a great rural audience whose tastes differ from that of the urban. So it takes a show like Satyamev Jayate to break these boundaries.

TTPBM:Same

message 6139: by Reading (new)

Reading Monk (dipeshjain) | 185 comments I agree...its simply a matter of demand vs supply. As long as indian educated remains a small portion of indian population, i dont see any hope. Majority of population gets attracted towards over drama whether in serials or politics or movies and thats what we gonna get.
TTPBM - Same

message 6140: by Prtsh (new)

Prtsh (mutated_insane) | 105 comments I think playing on the religion card is just not acceptable in politics.A few days back i heard someone from a political party accuse another political party on the grounds of meat consumption.I mean how ridiculous is that!and also we need a stricter screening system to weed out criminals from elections.Mr Khan made a wonderful point on SJ.Earlier the goons were 4 hire now they think ki since they're the ones doing all the "field work" why not stand up in the elections. As for Indian TV i've no hope.I mean they can't sanction a kissing scene for the small screen forget about a Show on the scale of GOT or TWD
TTPBM-the funniest book you've read

message 6143: by Nikhat (new)

Nikhat Hetavkar (nikbookchatter) | 403 comments I haven't read the books yet. I just recently got hooked onto the tv show. I had abandoned it on first attempt as the pilot was a little more than I could digest. *awkward laugh*
TTPBM: Same

message 6144: by Prtsh (new)

Prtsh (mutated_insane) | 105 comments defo the books..thgh it is one of the very few adaptations on the screen that's done justice to the books..The red Wedding*shudders* that was one helluva episode.Yeah it isn't for the faint hearted :P
