I agree, Jackie, her playing William Bell was pretty great. I love the voice.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Jackie, I totally agree with you on all your points.

I like Peter. :)

Supernatural is my occult-type show of choice. Hands down my fav show out there.

@Jackie/MrsJ: Lol...oh man I saw it in a completely different light. I thought her acting/voice portrayal was completely ridiculous and almost gave up the show entirely on the spot. Quite literally the only thing that kept me from doing so was Walter.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

I hated Lost too. I just couldn't get into it, no matter how many people said it was the greatest show ever.

Also, yeah, Supernatural is my go to show for occult-type stuff. Their meta shows are some of the funniest around.

Love it, love it, love it!

I agree that Walter carries Fringe.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

Sixth season so far has been... I dunno, iffy? Although the meta episode was hilarious.

I just want to see where they're going with it from here on, since season 5 ended almost perfectly.

Supposedly some big action coming down the pipe with more Castiel, which will be nice to watch. Plus I just want to watch the season finale for the song...

carry on my wayward son...

message 60: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments I was one of those who thought Supernatural should have ended at Season 5. I mean, how to you top the Apocalypse? And so far, they haven't. Some episodes have been entertaining but it's not epic like last season.

message 61: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I've never really watched Supernatural but hubby loves it. He says it's jumped the shark and badly at that. He liked the tv show episode, though.

From what he told me it was supposed to end at season 5 but season 5 did so well the contract was extended. Bad for them they had already reached the pinnicle of what was supposed to happen and everything else has been grasping at straws.

LOL! Well, I mentioned what made me stop watching in my previous spoiler. Ever since I mainly just get 1/2 (or less) an episode here & there. I try not to know what's going on any more cause I was sooooooo horribly pissed at the direction the show was going in.

message 63: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I've never watched Supernatural until recently. It was recommended by a friend, and so I borrowed some dvds from him. I then went out and bought the dvds. I'm currently somewhere in season 3 and loving it!

Other than that and HBO like shows, I don't really watch all that much television.

The season finale to Season five of Supernatural was the single best finale of any show I've ever watched. I've watched it a dozen times at least.

That being said Jensen Ackles is my freaking Boy. Check it

Damn right he is. The guy's been fun to watch since his days on Dark Angel(I still miss that show too).

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments I remember when he was Eric on Days of Our Lives.
Dark Angel was a great show. I miss it too. Another cancelled too early. Ackles was also on Smallville. He gets around.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments One of my favorite shows was Forever Knight. I used to watch it (in syndication) late at night (11pm) and it came on 5 nights a week! Can't remember what channel...

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I love Supernatural too. I am behind though. I haven't watched past season 4. Misha Collins is on twitter, and he's hilarious, if you are a fan of Castiel.

Heh, I remember that show. It used to come on CBS late at night here. It was part of a bigger block of really, really bad shows. I remember there was one about a Judge who turned into a motorcycle riding vigilante at night.

Those were some really bad shows :P

hah, found it:
Crimetime after Primetime

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments speaking of shows, i just ordered Thundarr the Barbarian. yeah! i am prepared to be disappointed, i suppose. but i am also prepared for a lot of timeless awesomeness! science fantasy for kids...i can't wait to see what its like, 3 decades later.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm..now I totally missed that one. Only barbarian-esque show I ever watched was Hercules the Legendary Journeys. I remember when they were made for tv movies prior to becoming a series. Really late Saturday nights on NBC. Good times :)

message 81: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments keep in mind, it is a cartoon! very crude animation, at least in my mind's eye, many many years later.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol..ahh! I grew up in the Transformers/Thundercats/Voltron/He-man era :)

message 83: by mark (new)

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

hah, Thundarr! I remember him. With his lightsaber laser sword and his wookie weird hairy alien companion and leia some chick, all going around fighting and whatnot.

Good stuffs.

message 86: by Bets (new)

Bets (betsdavies) Have to admit I favor Buffy, and yes it shows Fillion's acting talent that he moved from Caleb to Mal with such grace. Of course I still own them all.

Serenity was hit or miss for me. For one, it really doesn't make sense to anyone who wasn't a fan of the show. For another, it focused on Reavers, which has to be one of the stupidist concepts on earth. If these people are so enraged they are beyond insanity, how are they piloting ships and even doing it with tatics instead of just eating each other?

Plus River--what is Joss's obsession with "crazy" characters? And if he's going to do it, could he at least glance through the DSM and make his characters realistic instead of exploiting people with mental illnesses to force themes?

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate that the reavers turned out to be just an experiment gone wrong. I liked it better when they were men who'd gone to the edge of space, saw the nothingness staring back at them, and went mad.

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments i love the reavers. although i also prefer the idea of them being voyagers who looked into the abyss...and the abyss looked into them! thank you, neitzsche.

not sure i understand the idea of whedon exploiting people with mental illnesses...i definitely don't see any 'exploitation' going on in anything that he puts out.

I didn't say necc. exploitation, but I've known some paranoid schizophrenics. River is an amalgamation of plot turned into a character that doesn't act mentally ill. I know, I know--her brain was stripped by crazed doctors, but she is not anything but a lame attempt at crazy.

Other than that, I was referring to Buffy. Dru--I know she is a vamp, but still--what the hell is she supposed to be, extreme, hundreds of years worth of PTSD? She's another lame excuse for crazy. Let's see--Buffy has an episode where she's supposedly just some crazy chick in an LA asylum with the most unrealistic psychiatrists on earth. Spike goes nuts when he gets his soul back and has the Source talking to him. Glory is a whole season of crazy exploitation. I know it is a fun theme, but if Joss wanted to use it as a trope it would be a lot more effective if crazy was remotely realistic.

Not that I don't love Joss. Not that I don't realize the crazy as a symbol for various themes hasn't lasted through time. I am well aware this is an issue I feel strongly about, perhaps to the extent that I get pissy about it. But believe me, when someone with the creds to do it tells you you are crazy, ridiculous images of crazy start looking a lot less like an interesting thematic choice.

Konnie (Kontexts) | 32 comments It is a shame, though, that Firefly was so short lived. I, too, am a fan of that Canadian actor Nathan Fillion. The two characters I've seen him play are just so endearing.

message 97: by S.J. (new)

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 469 comments I wouldn't call Caleb, the character he played on 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', endearing at all. No, he was downright scary on that show, but I don't think that was one of the two characters you meant.

message 98: by Konnie (new)

Konnie (Kontexts) | 32 comments Good golly, you're right. That was him! Ewww, he was downright creepy then. No, I meant the Captain and Castle.

He was the epitome of evil on Buffy!

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 469 comments Indeed he was. I was quite pleased when he came to a painful, messy end.
