A favorite episode from By The Light Of The Moon, Chapter 17:

"-but give us two or three minutes before you call nine-one-one," Dylan finished.

This instruction baffled Marj. "But you are nine-one-one."

Jilly fielded that particular question: "We're one of the ones, Marj, but we're not the other one or the nine."

There is an idea of "psychic spoor" presented in the book and likening it to leaving finger prints behind. I find it very interesting.
Click here to read a paragraph from Chapter 15 of By The Light Of The Moon:

Some entertaining dialogue from By The Light Of The Moon, Chapter 9:

"Serial killers don't always look crazy-violent," Jilly said. "They're cunning. Anyway, even if you're not a killer, you might be a rapist."
"You're a wonderfully cordial woman, aren't you?" Dylan said sourly.
"Well, you might be a rapist. How would I know?"
"I'm not a rapist."
"That's just what a rapist would say."
"For God's sake, I'm not a rapist, I'm an artist."
"They aren't mutually exclusive."

I'm sure there's someone who considers rape to be an art and would consider him/herself to be a rape artist (instead of a rap artist). ;-)

Well, I did it. I got "By The Light of the Moon" tattooed on my right arm as a banner under my owl. I wish had used blue or green coloring in the banner rather than red but otherwise I am happy with the result :-)

Dustin Crazy, thus the name, are you going to put up a picture?

I don't possess the technology to take pictures - well I probably do, but don't know how to use it. I was hoping I could use the picture that my tattoo artist takes and post it, but he wants to wait two more weeks for it to heal to take a picture. Maybe I figure out how to take a picture before that & I will post. I'm going to add more to this arm with the "By the Light of the Moon" theme probably another owl or two, maybe a tree and a moon , stars... I've got lots of ideas - I'm going to hold off a while and not get too crazy, but the plans are there. I'm thinking of putting "One Door Away from Heaven" on my other arm but I want to wait and re-read it first - I'm nominating it as group read for July :-)

Well then, that would be great. What about Relentless? Isn't that one of your favorites? No owls or anything in that one but still. Sounds kind of dangerous and racy, RELENTLESS.

Several Koontz titles have crossed my mind but I can't see tattooing the words Relentless, Life Expectancy or Mr. Murder on me.

I finally figured out how to use my built-in camera on my computer. Now I can actually have profile pictures that are of me. Tattoo to be posted shortly :-)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
Okay, now I just have to figure out how to post my picture. Be back later.

Wow! It's hard to believe that our By The Light of the Moon topic hasn't had any activity in nearly two years!!!!

Well, that's about to change. By The Light of Moon is scheduled to be featured as a mini-group read tentatively with a start date of May 15th. Please feel welcome to join us as we read and discuss this amazing novel :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I had read this for the second time, back in January so I am on my third reading.

I still have to read Shadowfires so don't start without me!

Amy S (amys_r) | 60 comments This is one of my all time favorite books. Not just DKs books, but all books I've read so far. I've read it at least 3 times previously and would love to read it again and join the discussion. I've never listened to the audio book version. Has anyone listened to it, and if so what is your opinion? I am considering this instead of reading it.

Shannon (xoxoshannon1979) | 37 comments read this on last month i really like it. I am hoping he write another one to this one

Yes Yes Yes. I like the way you think. I love love love By The Light of the Moon! Do you have a potted plant that you take with you on trips? I own the audiobook and it is great! I will be listening to By The Light of the Moon after I finish Shadowfires :-) I have the title "By The Light of the Moon" tattooed on my right arm - the story is so damn good!!!!!

Isn't it though :-)

Sorry, I am behind schedule. Still reading Shadowfires, so I'll have to see if I get to By the Light of the Moon before I get my hands on a copy of Deeply Odd this coming week. We'll have to see how long I resist purchasing a copy of Deeply Odd down the street at Barnes & Noble.

Currently Re-Reading :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Sometimes with Koontz I love the little details that just add some zip to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed re-reading this book. The little "zippy" thing that had me chuckling was this great scientist, bordering on brilliant using cartoon character band-aids.

"

I just experienced that part today :-) I thought along the same lines how that little thing really added to the fun of By The Light of the Moon

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I've seen it in some of the other books too, those odd little things but can't think of an example right now.

BTW, Dustin, I thought you might get a kick out of this: I have now become obsessed with highlighting every time he uses "susurration" or one of its forms in a book I am reading. Having the dictionary in the Kindle makes me so lazy because I don't have to look up when he uses a word not commonly used. Kindle just makes it too darn easy.

message 133: by Holly (new) - rated it 5 stars

Holly | 71 comments Loved this one!

He sure uses that word a lot Karen.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments That's become my "look for it" in every book of his I pick up lately. I've also found some that I just wasn't quite sure of the meaning and when I hit the dictionary, there's a perfectly good synonym that would have done the job just as well. I've found a couple too that list the usage as "arachaic". I just love his use of metaphors however. I think it takes me longer to read the books now because I will hit one and just stop and think about how beautiful the expression is.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 207 comments This is one of my favorite Koontz reads. There's a block of books that he wrote during this time that I liked.

I must admit that about the 3rd or 4th time I read it though (view spoiler)
