Lizzy | 129 comments I need help, I know I'm taking Geometry for sure, but after that i really have no idea what to take.
I know I want to go into the science field but I'm not sure how I'm going to get all my credits in if I work towards that goal.

message 2: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart What grade are you in?

Also: I am not loving no longer being the youngest one around here. Hmph! *pouts*

Biology or chemistry. I think these are staggered so you're not taking both in the same year, usually. English, of course. One foreign language.

message 4: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments Well, I'm going into ninth grade so I'm kind of freaking out a little, first year of high school and all, but I know I'm taking AP English and Concert band, Like I said before Geometry, but they won't let me take Biology or Chemistry until I'm a junior, which really sucks.
so, basically I have a choice between AP Enviormental Science or Pre-AP Physical Science. Ug, why can't they just treat it like elementary school where they chooose for you? That'd be so much easier.

message 5: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Into the 9th grade!

And I wouldn't take Pre-AP anything. just take the AP.

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments If I could go back to high school, I would have taken auto shop or a/c repair... something practical. I have a lot of years of education, and I can't really do anything practical.

I would like to be back in high school. There were a few calculus problem sets I could have tried harder on.

message 8: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments Unfortunately they don't havve auto shop at CHS. They even said i couldn't take French until 10th grade, I mean seriously? That's so not fair. I arlready speak a little and i don't think that I should have to wait for a year to take it officially. But that was really helpful iBritt, I guess that would make the most sense, i'll tell the forecaster lady (i really don't know her name, she won't tell us, maybe she works for the FBI ;D) that I want to take AP Enviormental science, but, the next problem is Geometry or geometry 1. (I swear, i'm not kidding, they say there's a difference and i have to choose one now, just got the email 5.5 minutes ago. Evil people, always making life hard for the younger people
-currently grumbling nonsense to self about mean people-).

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I would like to go back to high school. The way they teach seems a lot more fun then it was when I went to school. Especially the science subjects.

message 10: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments I hope so, i really don't want to be bored out of my mind for four years, middle school is okay but everything is too easy, I could do the homework in my sleeep, speaking of homework i wonder if I should actually start mine. . .

message 11: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart into the 9th grade!

message 12: by Lizzy (last edited Mar 07, 2011 08:11PM) (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments You're not going to let that go are you?

iBritt wrote: "into the 9th grade!"

Remember way back, when you were in 9th grade Britt?

message 14: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart (view spoiler)

Because um...you're gonna have a lot of fun, kiddo.

message 15: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments I hope so, it is fun right? So far the whole school thing has been kinda boring, totally kidding, kinda, it's been strange, everyone says high school is the greatest time of your life or it totally sucks, I don't know which to go with yet (Fun, please let it be fun)

message 16: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments Okay, well i think i got the classes thing settled, i really appreciate all the tips, it's super helpful and i think it'll be fun =). I wonder if I should still play soccer, did any of you have time for sports while you were in high school? (Sorry, not trying to make you feel old or anything, I swear, it's just the best way to say that question)

Britt there is still plenty of time for all that.

::hugs::

Mary (madamefifi) I'm suddenly feeling like an ancient crone. Know when I was in 9th grade? Fucking 1977!!! I feel sure many things have changed since then. Er...don't smoke dope!

message 19: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I weigh 300 pounds; I didn't want to do sports.

Oh, and please don't worry about me feeling old - I'm a 19-year old with a flair for the dramatic.

ditto.

personally, i'd stock up on a bunch of accelerated and AP's, even at freshmen year. if you like to read alot and stuff, AP isn't that hard because basically all it is is extra reading and a more advanced textbook. i didn't have any trouble, but make sure you try and get your requirements out of the way first. they'll come back to bite you in the ass if you dont.
and do sports...they're great destressors. and they look good on college apps.

Yes, there was time for sports in high school. I think you need to do one sport. It doesn't have to be varsity, or junior varsity, it can be intramural. Just as long as you're getting exercise, working off stress, having some fun. It can help with time management, too. Learning to juggle classwork, homework, and a sport is good practice for college.

message 22: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments That's good advise, I was thinking about playing for the CHS soccer team and the track team but (If you did AP classes and sports at the same time) were you able to get everything done and still sleep? I have to get up super early now for Jazz band and i don't know if i could handle any more loss of sleep

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

i do pom pon, cheer and AP's this year, and i haven't suffered from hair loss and stress yet if that's what you're asking.
you get used to the loss of sleep after a while. coffee helps alot. just make sure you take time to catch up on the weekends.

Even if i wanted to (which i assure you, i don't) you can't get away with drugs at CHS, there have been like six people busted for having Marajuana already, they kinda take it to the extremes when it comes to Drug safty

I'm fourteen and i already know the wonders of coffee, a great thing if you ask me. Every morning it's like required (Though the derogatory name of a druggie has come up before...) But, i think i could make that work, thanks

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

coffee, i think, is the greatest drink ever.

message 28: by Lori (new)

Lori D (dewsydaisy) | 60 comments Sports are great because they keep you active, busy, and your grades up if that can be a problem. I'd definitely load up on sports especially as a freshman/sophomore so you know which sports you like best for junior/senior year when you get a job and busy with college prep. You probably will want to drop down to one sport at that point that maybe you can get a scholarship for and focus in on work/junior/senior year etc.

That's my view on sports at least.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Fuck that.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Anything that will nab you an easy "A." Pad your GPA now so you can spend your junior and senior-year mornings in the student parking lot "tuning up" for class. Remember, you're only young once.

You think you feel old? In 1977 I was almost done with college. I'm not sure how anyone can make it through high school without smoking dope so smoke up. About 15 minutes before first class is a pretty good time. Er, no, you're right, don't smoke dope. Just say no!

I was in 12th grade in the fall of 1977. I loved my English and Journalism classes. I wish I'd taken more history and more languages--Spanish and Latin. I also think I should have asked to be in Auto Shop--then I could have dated a gearhead boy and made him name his car after me.

No, i don't think you would because i hear that typee of stuff a lot, plus i'm fourteeen, not six. I think i can handle that level of vocabulary, not to mention that fact that i'll have to learn it sooner or later

message 49: by Lizzy (last edited Mar 08, 2011 03:32PM) (new)

Lizzy | 129 comments Well, I got all my classes picked out (AP As far as the eye cane see) and soccer in the fall, basketball (maybe) in the winter and track in the spring. i wonder if i could get Ryan to stand at the end of the Javalin pit i would throw really far then. . . =)

message 50: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments (Heavy sigh) Oh, Lizzy I've had dogs older than you. You are breaking my heart here. I'm going to go into my advice-giving mom mode pretty soon if I don't get off the computer. Ask Esme, she know all of my wise older woman date rape stories.
