Maybe you two are secretly linked through a magical bond that synchronizes that actions of the defenders of the earth, preparing them for the moment when they--as one-- will be called to battle! yeah!!
... or I guess it could just be a coincidence... (you guys would tell the rest of us if it was the whole 'guardians of the earth thing', right?)

There is a plan, but it's more like a five year plan than a next week plan... Which means that I am writing it but slowly.

I suspect you've gotten everything... There's Hell Cop 1 & 2 which is an anthology but I don't know if it would be to your taste... The novellas I contributed are probably most like Shy Hunter in tone.

(I'm feeling a little guilty for not writing more or faster... Maybe I should enroll in some speed writing course... Or study under Josh. Not only is he fast but he's great!-- Or better yet, maybe I can get Josh to write for me! heheheh)

Getting classical with clichés: good things come to those who wait!

Besides, it took Susanna Clarke 10 years to write “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell”. And another of my all-time favorite authors, Meredith Ann Pierce, has been a published author for 3 decades and only has 8 novels to her name : two trilogies, and two stand-alone novels (and a short story anthology thrown in on the side). Every single one of them is an amazing piece of writing. There are several vaunted mainstream authors (I will not name them here! D: ) who release 3 books a year and all of them are poorly written, rushed nonsense. Sometimes speed is the enemy of quality.

Though, I’ve never read one of Josh’s books. I’d like to, since he comes so highly recommended, but I don‘t know where to start. XD

Barb Gilmour (barblikesbooks) I have read Hell Cop.. and I LOVED Hell Cop :-D

message 162: by Barb (new)

Barb Gilmour (barblikesbooks) ...and what I see in you and Josh is an economy of words - I want more in the story; I want more stories.. BUT in your books every single word counts; I have read sooooo many books where you get the feeling the author wanted to pad the book out with descriptions and dialogue that do nothing but weigh the story down..so basically I am happy to wait for books that are worth rereading :-D

message 163: by Barb (new)

Barb Gilmour (barblikesbooks) Oh.My.God. ... I just read all of Em-nat's post.. and I do hate you, in the nicest possible way of course...you haven't read any of Josh's work? I am rationing myself on 2 a month to make them last to Xmas! I would love to live Groundhog day in Joshlandia and every day read a book for the first time :-D

My personal favorite is a novella called Snowball in Hell, but he's written so much that is good that you probably can't go wrong.

It was really fun to write because I got to read Nicole's and Astrid's takes on the same world that I was writing about And of course they brought out aspects that I would never have thought of.

I tend to shy away from reading my own work after it's done, but I can go back to those books and re-read because I'm always delighted with the other authors.

And I'd love to read some, there's just so much to choose from! I'm glad to have suggestions on where to start.

That's pure heresy! But knowing you, you do it deliberately...
Anyway that copy of WG should be put behind glass in a museum!

@Em-nat: You have a great talent to pick music matching exactly a book or the scenes of a book!

And you do have to read Josh!

Antonella | 126 comments There was a little discussion about the importance of first paragraphs and Nicole just posted an interesting post about the first pages of ''The Rifter'':

I just wanted to comment that this is an excellent example of hooking the reader: I remember reading this excerpt some years before Ginn would publish the book and keeping hoping she would finish it ;-).

I’ll be on an island in the Pacific Ocean when Book 6 comes out (who knows, I may even be ON A BOAT), so my enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that I wont be able to read it the instant it’s downloadable x.x

I’ve been assured that there will be an internet connection but I mightfall into a volcano. Or be eaten by a shark. I like to THINK POSITIVE.
