Simeon (yeahiknow3) Reddit's scifi books survey results after 1500 redditors cast their votes.

Here are the Top Rated, and Most Read

And this reddit thread.

Also, a few days ago I created a similar survey for fantasy books. After about 500 people voted (from r/fantasy and r/books combined), here were those results as well.

I actually separated the r/fantasy and r/books scores because I suspected there would be large differences, and there are a few.

I voted in the scifi poll, but completely missed the fantasy one.

Nice work, though :)

Thank you, and for voting as well. What were your favorites? I'd only read about 20 books on that list, and it's no secret that my favorites are: the Vorkosigan Saga, HG2G, Armor, Brave New World, Never Let Me Go, The Time Traveller's Wife (last place? wtf people!), Hyperion, etc.

What about you?

IIRC: HG2G, Hyperion, Armor, Altered Carbon, Snow Crash. I think.

There were so few I'd actually read that it made it pretty easy to vote :P

Time Travelers Wife? I'd heard bad things about it so never bothered. Was it really good?

It's more of a time-travelling romance than hardboiled scifi, so I knew reddit wouldn't react well to seeing it on the survey. (And not in the least because 85% of the respondents were male with very serious views of what does and does not belong. Lol.)

I'm surprised it got any votes at all, to be honest. Not that it's some horrible twilighty type of book, just that it doesn't seem like a Reddit kind of thing.

Exactly. I included it because... idk. It was my survey so fuck it. Lol. In any case, it would be nice to have a definitive compilation of reddit's all-time favorite books. I hope everyone isn't too sick of taking 2 minutes out of their day to vote, because it would be grand to have the results.

Historical Fiction might be nice. Could use some rec's there.

Maybe Life Changer books too, since it would be interesting what the hivemind thought of that.

Or Urban Fantasy, since I would love some rec's there as well.

Geoff (gmunny33) | 9 comments I think I've read, like, two of these books. Got some work to do!

Jillian Conley | 1 comments I didn't see the # read the first time through, good to see those numbers too! I guess I need to read Hitchhikers guide to be cool!

You haven't read it yet?

GET THE TORCHES

message 12: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat Don't you mean tar & feathers? Torches & pitchforks are too mundane for this job.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, we could start with the tar and feathers, then progress to pitchforks and torches.

We just haven't had a good pitchfork and torches mob in a while...

Apatt | 17 comments I didn't miss it in Reddit but glad to find it here. Is there a text version of the survey result? I would like to convert it into a reference book for my Kindle.

message 15: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat Ooh, that is a good idea.

Ljubica (ljubicatodorovic) Late post is late... but.. I'm surprised to see that The Last Unicorn is not very popular on the "most read" chart. It's a classic. Sigh!
