Angela (wildkitties) | 28 comments I'm almost finished but will be away this weekend. And the lovely nook is acting up, grr, so I can't read it. I'm hoping to be able to finish and chat about it early next week. I can discuss the book up to page 200 or so if anyone would like.

Cactus | 20 comments I think I should be able to finish by next week. I will check in then.

Isabelle Solal Hi all,
I saw that you briefly considered reading my book (blush!) If you were still interested, I would love to hear what you think of it and participate in any discussions with you - for those who are allergic to e-books, I'm sure we could sort you out with a pdf copy for you to print.
Let me know! (and by the way, Little Bee is fantastic, as is his first novel, Incendiary)

Cactus | 20 comments Isabelle, I would still be interested in the book. I don't have an e-reader so for me it would definitely have to be some kind of hard copy. However I don't have a printer at home either so that might be an issue.

Cactus | 20 comments Are people ready to discuss The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie yet?

message 56: by Angela (new)

Angela (wildkitties) | 28 comments I'm ready. What did you think? I don't want to say too much yet though if we're not all done the book

Cactus | 20 comments I don't want to say too much either... but I guess most participants have at least read enough that they can discuss the characters and the writing, I would think? (or are avoiding this page until finished?)
BTW my copy actually has a discussion guide in the back, though I don't have it with me.
I enjoyed it. It was a fast, easy read that kept me fairly motivated to keep on going. I wouldn't say that I loved it or thought it was great or surprising or anything like that.
What do you think of Flavia? Are there things about her and her voice as an eleven year old that did or did not ring true for you? Did you find her likable?
I think 11 is such an interesting age and a turning point-perhaps for girls in particular-so this aspect of the book was interesting to me. For me, this character was not a complete success. I am interested in what others think.

Thanks Isabelle!

(I am definitely one of those allergic to e-books people!)

Feel free to start a thread about your book and encourage some discussion.

No one is more sorry than me that the book is not available in hard copy :) That being said I can always provide a pdf if asked nicely! And amazon does let you download without an e-reader (you can get the kindle app for free to use on anything, including your computer)

Ah dear, e-book allergies... tricky for self-published authors! But if any of you would like to read an Austen-inspired novel about balancing career and life, and indulge in some "travel porn" (as one of my reviewers called it), I would absolutely love to get a chance to discuss it with you!

Read the reviews and see if they tempt you!
