Does anyone else have a book to nominate? June is tomorrow! *GASP!*

Shall we make Nicole Kimberling's first Bellingham Mystery Primal Red our June BOM? Jordan suggested the print book The Bellingham Mystery Series, Volume 1 which has the first three novellas in it, but I think it's only available in print. Am I right? (Although I have to add that I absolutely LOVE that cover!)

So what do you think? The Bellingham Mysteries series got support, but would it be easier if we'd choose the first novella of the series instead of the first three?

message 2003: by Judy (new)

Judy Stone | 378 comments I'd prefer just the first novella, Primal Red, but it's up to you guys.

message 2004: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
Either way, is fine with me. I'll be reading the first three anyway since I have them in print together, so I'll let you all make the final decision.

BTW, there is a Kindle boxed set of the first five books for $9.99 if anyone is interested: https://www.amazon.com/Bellingham-Mys...

Otherwise, Primal Red is $4.99 in Kindle by itself: https://www.amazon.com/Primal-Red-Nic...

I don't know about other countries though.

And yes, the edition I have is only available in print, according to Amazon.

Thank you for the links, Jordan!

I'll make Nicole's Primal Red our June BOM, but if there're many of us who manages to read also the other books of the series (any number of them) that's always a bonus, right? It seems that Primal Red is a bit shorter than the books we've recently read (as BOMs), so I'm hoping that more of us have time to read it and to take part in the discussion.

The more, the merrier, in a book discussion!

message 2008: by Calathea (new)

Calathea | 6034 comments Seeing Johanna starting the discussion of June's BOM (thank you, dear J!): What do you want to read next month? A summer holiday romance maybe? Something that's set in a place where you would like to go for vacation? What do you think?

message 2009: by Calathea (new)

Calathea | 6034 comments Digging up that topic...

Do you guys want to read a BOM in July?

Or maybe you're all on summer vacation and rather take a BOM-break and come back to tell us about what you read on holiday?

Just let me know! :)

Calathea | 6034 comments Oh, the new Eli Easton A Second Harvest is supposed to be published on July 1st. How about that one?

message 2011: by Sabine (new)

Sabine | 3041 comments I will read it definitely. I have read Kingdom Come by her and liked it. Now I want to see her approach in this book.

I'm going to recommend Aftermath by Cara Dee. It looks really good, has a lot of good reviews, and several of us have it marked as "want to read".

Um, is this the correct link? I see Kingdom Come by Jane Jensen. Same title maybe?

message 2016: by Calathea (new)

Calathea | 6034 comments We can leave this until the 1st, right, to see if we get more/other suggestions? The one Jordan mentions sounds good too. Ha! I have it on my lists already. :D

message 2017: by Sabine (last edited Jun 28, 2016 10:27AM) (new)

Sabine | 3041 comments Yes, Eli Easton is a pseudonym and Jane Jensen is another one or her real name.

I guess we should start a poll today?

Just in case Eli Easton is chosen, I asked the library to purchase the ebook for me! I didn't realize it, but the library already owns a lot of Eli's titles. Cool.

What do you mean you're not one of us? Of course you are! As long as you're a member of Josh's GR group you're invited to read and discuss our BOMs!

Yes, I'm secretly (or not so secretly, maybe) hoping for Aftermath since it looks good and I already own it, but A Second Harvest looks good too. I've not read anything by Eli before.

Hey, so I set up a very short timed poll for this BOM. It runs through Sunday. It's anonymous and results are shown after it ended.

Go and vote for BOM here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

What Jordan said. Come and join us in discusding books. We're always happy to have new participants come in and give us fresh insight and a new point of view. :)

You're also very much welcom to make suggestions on what to read the next month. Usually when we have several candidate books with at least another supporter we'll have a poll.

Bad news for our Grant Challenge (but not that bad, really), I just noticed that the 6th book in the series isn't coming out until the beginning of January 2017 now. As our challenge finishes up at the end of December, maybe we can change that to finish up at the end of January? If the new publication date doesn't get pushed back further, it seems rather silly to finish the challenge less than a week before the new book comes out. Thoughts?

Calathea | 6034 comments I'm sorry I dropped off the earth and left you hanging with the BOM poll. The flu got me. Again. After I had the damn thing for most of June already. *sigh*

Okay, so... as you found out already A Second Harvest won with 5 votes to 4 for BOM of July.

Discussion will start (if we keep to the old plan) on 23rd July. Let's read some! :)

Great! How does everyone else feel about the challenge date getting changed to January 31st?

message 2040: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
I do want to state that as of right now I see no reason to change the way we've been doing things. So yes, we'll start the discussion on the 23rd, and I'll also start nominations for August that same day. Of course, if people have nominations for August before the 23rd, please feel free to post them! If someone seconds a nomination it will get added to the poll, which will go up the 29th-31st at midnight, so we'll know the August BOM on the 1st of the month. (How does that sound?)

That said, if anyone has any new ideas on the way we do things feel free to share them too.

I'm assuming people find discussion questions helpful. If you do, I'll make sure to post some for our discussions. :-)

Any other thoughts, comments, questions, post away!

Hi all,

So, it's that time again. Next month starts in just over a week! I know. Crazy. Where did July go?

Anyway, it's time to start nominations for our August BOM. Rules for this haven't changed. Nominate a book and if it gets seconded, then it will go in a poll on Friday. I'll announce the August BOM on the 1st of the month. Hopefully this works for everyone!

Since Aftermath had some votes last month, I'm going to nominate it one more time for August.

Does anyone else have another nomination? Let us know by Friday!

In the meantime I finished to reread For Real. I wanted to add - for people having doubts - that I'm not into BDSM and this is really not heavy stuff.

Anyway if we don't go for it next month we can read it the following month ;-).
