Actually, my table is currently covered in candle making supplies, candles, and the pans from making granola this morning. :-)

Unless you mean the coffee table... in which case... yeah. It's covered in 15 neat stacks of books. But really, it's a trunk with a large piece of wood on top and a nice purple cloth draped over the whole thing so it looks nice. :-)

Thank you for pointing this out, Varecia. Yes, let's include that one in the challenge. In fact, our challenge is such a long one that I'm starting to fret that even the book # 15 will be out before we'll finish... ;-)

I'm gonna rerecommend this one. I'm in the mood for historical. Or something I own, of which this fits both categories.

I'm running low on reading time lately, but I'm also trying to finish up other hobbies and then do nothing but read in my spare time, so we'll see what happens in the future.

Exactly my thoughts, Jordan and Varecia.

I should get back reading those Strachey books. I read the first three ones in a row and needed a break after that. But now might be a good time to continue. :-)

Sooooo, it's time to decide what to read and discuss in July. What do you say?

For those who've recently joined the group (and for those of us who have forgotten how this works, LOL) here is how we choose our BOM each month:

You can either suggest a book or support someone's suggestion.

At the end of the week we'll see if we have an obvious choice or if we need a poll.

Take it away, guys! :-)

message 1773: by Calathea (new)

Calathea | 6034 comments Is that a subtle hint that I should have proposed a July BOM on this topic? ;-)

Okay, who wants read Last Line 2 by Harper Fox?
I'm quite sure we had a discussion of part 1 as a BOM too and came up with the wildest theories.

Not me, I rarely like her books.

I nominate Kaje Harper's Life, Some Assembly Required

I don't think we ever did read Last Line 1. I know we read Scrap Metal by Harper Fox.

I'm going to suggest Brothers of the Wild North Sea, also by Harper Fox.

I also haven't read this one, and it's not part of a series, so might appeal to more people who haven't already read all of her work.

Plus, it just sounds amazing!

If I remember correctly *scratches her head* in the end (after a few days in this case) we'll set up a poll for the books that have been supported by someone. But... let's see how many suggestions we get. If there aren't too many, we can set a poll for all of them. Or... if one of them gets many supporters then we won't need a poll at all.

*Just sort of thinking aloud here*

In that case, it makes sense for us to read LL2.

I totally do that out loud too! I wish I could do it at work, and sometimes I do under my breath, but it's not the same. For some reason, asking myself tough questions out loud helps me answer them. *shrugs*

Right now, I would love to be able to talk about these outreach goals I'm supposed to be coming up with, but alas, I'm in a public place.

If I can finish the last two July summer reading books with time to spare, maybe I'll read LL1 too, just in case LL2 does get picked. They're both on my TBR pile. I definitely need to read more of her work. I'm woefully behind.

Ok. Let me sum this up.

We have only three books suggested:

Ring Around the Sun by Harper Fox
Life, Some Assembly Required by Kaje Harper
Brothers of the Wild North Sea also by Harper Fox

One of them, Ring Around the Sun by Harper Fox, got some support.

Shall we read that one then? :-)

There's a lot of Harper's on that list! :-)

Sounds like the vote is mostly for RATS, more commonly known as Ring Around The Sun. Gosh, I'm sorry I thought to shorten it. That makes it sound awful! lol.

We're still discussing our July BOM for a while, I think, but let's post our suggestions for the next month's read here already.

I was thinking that we might set up a real poll for next month's BOM after we've gotten some suggestions here. Everyone can suggest a book OR support someone else's suggestion. And in the end we'll set up a poll where you can vote for your favorite anonymously. All the books that have at least one supporter go straight to the poll. And if there aren't enough those, we'll just put all your suggestions in it. We'll set up the poll next Thursday (July 30th), so post your suggestions before that. Ready... steady...GO!

Unless Mr. Boss Man has anything particular in mind? Would you be interesting in New Adult reads, Josh?
