Is Winter Kill still scheduled for a March release?
Other than that my planned March reads are Scrap by Josephine Myles and Cut & Run 9 By Abigail Roux :D

It says March 8th, yes.

I vote for that one then :D

LOL Yes, like that.

What about our plan to read Death Trick and maybe make a challenge out of this series?

Oh no :-(
I really want that book, hopefully it'll be even better in May ;-)

I second this :-)

I have this already on my kindle and haven't read it yet, so I'll say aye.
Hello from sickbed. My fever is coming and going but the killer headache seems to be here to stay. This is one of the rare moments that the painkillers are actually working for a while, so I dared to take out my iPad.
Yeah, there was some sort of plan earlier to have Death Trick as March BOM and to start a challenge from there. So maybe we'll proceed with that?
I *think* I read from somewhere that Winter Kill will come out June 1st. But Wedding Favors, sequel for Perfect Day will be out before that, so we have exciting spring ahead of us. :-)

Ah, right. I didn't remember because I opted out of this one. But no worries, I'll set up the BOM topic and challege tomorrow when I'm at my computer (with a real keyboard and mouse).
Take care, Johanna, and get well soon!

I hope you're feeling better by now, Johanna. If not, listen to a gentle audiobook with your eyes closed!

I actually feel a little better today. At least that terrible headache is gone for now. And yes, I'm listening to a gentle audiobook with my eyes closed. :-) This is the bonus side of being sick. The book is Mary Renault's The Persian Boy — an excellent book and excellent narration.

Having just recently finished listening to The Persian Boy, I can say it's a fantastic narration and should help you feel better. I've got a picture of the actor that played Bagoas in the 2004 film Alexander on my desktop wallpaper and that always makes me feel better when I see it. :-) he's got these really expressive eyes to get lost in.
Also, boiling a pot of water with a bit of ape cider vinegar then steaming your face over it with a towel over your head might help lessen your headache. It worked for me when I had the flu awhile back.
I'm looking forward to Death Trick, btw! :-d

End of May, yes, for Winter Kill.

Oh Johanna! I'm so sorry to hear you're sick. No fun at all.

No worries, I'm not that sick anymore, only a little. But the bad news is I've now managed to infect hubby... who must have infected me in the first place when he was sick a couple of weeks ago the first time... Well, you get the picture. :-)

Oh, noes, ping-pong-cold. It happens. It's the worst. :(

Blessed Isle by Alex Beecroft.
I love her historical work and this one looks especially interesting, what with a shipwreck and mutinous criminals. :-)

LOL. I isolated myself in our guest room for a week -- twice, actually -- and I hated every moment of it. When you're used to sleeping with someone it's no fun to sleep alone.

Thank you for your suggestion, Jordan. Does anyone support Jordan's suggestion or maybe have another book in mind? Don't be shy. Spill out your darkest, silliest, strangest reading wishes. We can take it! :-D

It looks... hot. And could be nice break from all the heavy stuff. ;)

Added this one to my tbr list. I read her newest one, contemporary, and really liked it.
So far, my favorite of Alex's is False Colors. What a beautiful story and I was able to get it in a very nice print edition too.

What do you guys think?
Or we could make a buddy-read of The Fire Underneath, KC?

Yes! Yay! :-)"

Tell me a place and a time and I shall be there to discuss the hotness of Joe and Dallas. ;-)

Oooh, Joe and Dallas hotness ;-) who are they? we shall find out! I'll PM. :-)
Calathea wrote: "Maybe we should sit out a month and come back the the BOM in May? Looks like everybody is caught up in Easter preparations. ;-)
What do you guys think?"
I agree. Let's skip April's BOM, since there were only two suggestions and not much support for either of them. This way folks who are taking part in our Donald Strachey Challenge have time to start with that during April. And we'll be back reading a BOM in May.

That can be arranged... ;)
No, I don't think Josh minds if fine china, heavy art books and his juicer all go in the same cardboard box, Calathea. Oh, hand me that glass paperweight as well, will you, Carlita. And we'll write on this box... B-E-D-R-O-O-M.
What's that, Josh? You don't need any more help? But we've just only started...?
:-D

Sure, with lots of breaks for reading in prep for exams :p

Are you by chance related to my FIL, Johanna? When we moved ages ago he helped us packing and put an old office lamp on top of a 16th-century book... (It survived with a scratch on the binding, but I didn't speak to him for a month!!!)

Uh-oh... your FIL sounds a lot like my absent-minded father in action. :-)

I wouldn't have talked to him for longer. But how is it that you own a 16th-century book?

I love old books and started to collect them twenty years ago. Most of them are connected to the research area I'm interested in and they were affordable at the time, even with a student's budget. Nowadays I unfortunately don't have time and money to continue the "hunt", but I still hold on to a few old prints - I even enjoy reading some of them. Like an old newspaper from 1815, where they inform you that there was a battle in Belgium involving Napoleon, but cannot say who won, because those news had not travelled to Pressburg yet :-)
