Candidates for Next Month's Read

I had the same problem with The Forbidden Room. I feel I am superficial too, but I'm reading m/m because I'm not reading m/f. Strangely, when I find a bit of m/m in a het book, I'm happy, I wouldn't care even if it were the hero, lol.

LOL, that was my exact reaction. I settled on WG, but was intrigued by Elegant Corpse.
Oh drat. There's m/f sex in Branded? I had no idea. Sorry guys. I happened to be standing next to Clare when I bought my copy and I didn't quite think of that, nor could I easily ask her and put it down cause of that.
I just checked out some of the others, and yeah, this will be a tough call. Wicked Gentlemen and The Elegant Corpse both look good! Dang...

While I'm very glad she didn't rape you in a review, Kaje, I personally encourage people to vote their dollars. If someone acts like a jackass? They don't get a bloody cent from me. Period.
That was a tough poll for sure. I think I should have just closed my eyes and clicked. I could have gone with just about any of them. I wonder if we'll have to have a second vote.

You guys should have gone with Freeman, it is awesome! :P

But I love seeing what everyone comes up with each month for a nominee! I've added a lot of books to my TBR list from here, and I'd hate to loose out on more suggestions. We can always re-nominate a book if it didn't win. Hemovore was nominated at least one other time before being chosen.
Tamela, I like that idea! But, Cheryl, I do see your point too. Oiy, what is a person to do? lol. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the poll turns out.
Well, we've got Larton already booked for December.
Plus, I like leaving it open because you never know what amazing, tantalyzing title might be released any month now.

LOL, but I'm getting farther and farther behind because there is ALWAYS an amazing, tantalizing title being released... or two or three or even more. I just know it's more than my budget can afford until my lottery numbers hit :) I already have almost 250 books on my to read list, and it grows every time I stop in here. Choices... choices... read or eat :)
Glad to hear about the Larton Chronicles

So it looks like the October read will be Wicked Gentlemen.
And what a great choice that is. And a good excuse to buy a new copy.

Awesome! YAY!

I am, but I want to continue, and having it as BOM will motivate me. And discussing it will be cathartic. lol. That's why I suggested it.
Ooohh, I just ordered that for the library, just because it was on the poll. But, I probably won't see it for a few months. Guess I'm off to Amazon to buy myself a copy!
So I think it's time we recommended books for next month's read? That would be November, which is right around the corner, oh my!
My nomination is going to be Split by Mel Bossa. I actually got this at a book fair back in... April? I think. But I just haven't gotten around to reading it and it does look good.
I was going to nominate The Man From C.A.M.P. by Victor J. Banis but that's not really a romance from what I understand. I just have a feeling it'll be hard to get through. I did start it once, and then put it down. And there are no helpful reviews on this site for it. Ah well.
So for all that, I'm going with Split by Mel Bossa for next month's read. What does anyone else suggest?

I think I'll nominate End of the Trail which looks good and has been on my TBR for months, but I apparently need an excuse to actually read it.

I think Man from C.A.M.P. will indeed prove too camp for most readers.

I love end of trail.
There's a really great review for Split here on Goodreads that totally sold me on the book. Just sayin'.
So it looks like we're voting between these two books for next month's read unless someone else wants to nominate something?
Or maybe we should just read whichever we feel like, since there's only two books nominated anyway. lol, or is everyone trying to write a novel next month? I know I'll be busy, but I still have to read seven books before January to make my goal, so I'll be reading like crazy while I write like crazy.

Hi Jenn! I'm definitely looking forward to reading Split. Since I already own that one, I might skip the other for now... but it is calling my name...

So it looks like End of Trail won that poll, but given the low response overall, I'm not sure most of you even knew the poll was up. ;-)
So let's do this. Why don't we make End of Trail the official read, and anyone who has time can read the second book -- the title of which I'm totally blanking on -- as well?

- finish Nano (consist of 2 stories)
- finish setting up my website.
- read 7 books for Rainbow Award judging (compltely my fault for delaying it).
In addition to normal routine.
I hyperventilate just thinking about it.

This is all just very informal and very casual -- the idea behind the Book of the Month was I had bought a lot of books and never had time to read them. So this was actually an effort to force me to relax and read more for fun.
Of course it's morphed a bit since then -- not least because I never had time to list all the books I had purchased anyway.
If it's just one other person reading along, I'll still enjoy hearing that person's thoughts!

Right! I kept thinking SLIDE. But I knew that was wrong.

If there was one thing I wish you all would have learned from my experiences, it would be not to over-extend yourselves.

Yuck, hetero sex scenes will stop me from reading a book 99% of the time. The other 1% of the time I have to skip over them quickly to keep going.
