Hey, off topic, but hope the home situation has resolved itself.
lol, I'm attempting to put my apartment back into order this weekend as a matter of fact. Got my bedroom organized, and I'm trying to shelve my books, cds, and dvds. But that means putting them in order which means work... and this shifter series I'm reading is keeping my attention so I've done more work reading two books than I have shelving my own. *sigh* I'm so glad it's a three day weekend for me.
Check the link for the book. There's a description and you can read a five page PDF excerpt from it as well. It looks good to me and if Josh gives it a rave review, I'm willing to try it.
lol, I'm wondering what the publisher is thinking as sales for this book spike right now (even if just a little above normal) and notice all the places it's getting shipped to. You know, it's too bad we couldn't ask for a book group discount or something. Too late though, I already ordered it. And I can't wait to read it!

I was wondering the same. I have no idea how many copies they normally sell, but I think it's something they'd notice.

My microeconomics professor would be delighted to know that now I believe! :D
I could re-sell it immediately and buy two copies, re-sell the two and buy four, resell four and buy sixteen. I hope to win the lottery in the meantime and become really rich. (I know that I'd be inflating the market and prices would go down, preventing me from cashing in, but it's my dream market anyway...)

My dream market, my dream customers ;)
What I argued with my professor was that there are so many reasons why people make irrational decisions, but he said that I was thinking too micro. Last year I went to see U2. I was offered 750€ for a ticket I had bought for 115€ (U2 are my drug, I didn't go on vacation last year to see them twice). I obviously said "no way", I want to see the concert. I didn't regret it, but it wasn't a decision based on economic principles and 99% of the people I know told me it was pretty stupid of me. The thought of me outside the stadium listening to the concert playing inside with 635€ in my pocket was unbearable, lol
The question would be: what was the right price then? Honestly, I don't know :D

If you wonder: I kept all the concert tickets back then and I've just found them again. Absolutely interesting.

I envy you sooooo much! I started listening to U2 with the Joshua Tree album but I was too young to go to a concert, so the first one I could go was in 1993, price ticket 45.000 Italian £ (it would be 24€). In 2001 the price I paid was 81.000 £ (42 €, which is a bit cheaper than the general admission price ticket nowadays, but I am small so I always buy the seated tickets).
lol, funny thing, I was thinking about how I could resell my copy to someone else from the group too because of the need, though I wasn't thinking about marking it up. And, honestly, how could I sell it if I end up really enjoying it? Nope. No way. Even if I don't enjoy it as much as I hope I will, I won't give it up. No way. lol. Not after spending that much to have it shipped from England, a first for me.

What if we save it for December -- I think it would be a wonderful Christmas read, plus I can try and come up with some kind of ebook files for those who just can't afford the print book?
I want to hasten to add that I would not ordinarily do that but these were originally available as fan fiction and the intent was never to make money from them -- although at this point I'm sure the author would appreciate any and all contributions.

I'm going through a mountain of email (the downside of taking time away from the computer) but were we thinking about going with Mind Fuck, which is free?
Or is it free? Am I getting confused?
What were the suggestions for this month?

Ooooohhhhh.... FREE? Did I hear the magic word? lol. If Mind Fuck is free, I'm all for it! Plus, we haven't chosen anything so to pick something free, might be the best/quickest option? Not that fast is necessarily the way to go, but it did look like a good read.
If that is indeed what we go with, I can read right after I finish the YA novel I'm reading and the anthology The Future Is Queer. lol, I just love that title.
And I'll stop blabbering now... lol.

Okay. So Mind Fuck for this month? Seeing that we're halfway into the month, maybe it's best to go simple (and cheap).
I kept meaning to get on here yesterday and see if anyone else had any thoughts on the read... guess not? If the majority wants something else I'll go along with it, if not, free is awesome.

Yay! I am looking forward to rereading and discussing with everyone.
Mind Fuck it is then, it seems. btw, I LOVE that title. lol, and if my mom asks what I'm reading, I can't tell her cause there's a swearword in the title and she'd shoot me for saying it out loud. hehehe.
If I'm still coherent when I get to bed later, I'll start reading it. Woot!

That sounds like a good idea Josh. I actually didn't start it yet. Having a bad night and getting to bed really late, the best thing I could have done was reread a good book and The Dark Tide was it. With luck, I'll get to reading Mind Fuck tonight.

The return address was hand written. You don't know how it pleases me to see a touch of humanity with a book delivery, lol
That's awesome Emanuela! About how long did it take to get to you? I'm hoping I get mine soon! But then I'm going to have to wait a few months until we read it! That'll be a hard wait for what looks like a good book.

12 days, I ordered it on 08/31. The Italian post service is notoriously slow though, so I have no idea what it takes normally ;-D
Hey 12 days doesn't sound so bad to me. I have a feeling mine might take a little bit longer, being in the states, but we'll see.
I have to agree though about having a hand written address on it. That's always a nice touch!

See, Jordan, I told you Italian post service is slow, lol
lol, yeah but Mandy is still waiting too, so I'm not worried. Besides, we did choose December to read it.
I love the "Royal Mail" stamp. Can't wait to get it!

Gah, I want to go back so badly.

Gah, I want to..."
lol, you HAVE to do something while waiting for mail!
And don't forget: reading Dead Run :)

Gah, I want to..."
Years ago, my greatest dream is to go to Paris, because of the art. I want to see the Louvre. (Blame Da Vinci Code for that). Now I want to go to Italy. lol.

I can assure you, the art is not bad here either ;)
I think you want to come to Rome for Angels and Demons, sì?

I can assure you, the..."
I know! I've read this travel book about Italy and the art collection makes me drool. Not to mention the food. Now, all I have to do is wait for the big fat royalty check. Well.... in a couple of years. Maybe. LOL.
Ugh... and now you all have me craving pasta... and it's still many hours until I go home... oh wait... I'm going out for dinner and I don't even know where yet... wonder if I can convince anyone for some Italian food...
Italian food did not pan out, but the Irish pub fare was fantastic, as always.
So, my copy of Larton Chronicles was waiting for me in my mailbox when I got home tonight! yay! And I thought the wait might be another week or two... now I have to stare at it and force myself not to open it... maybe I should hide it, get a safe deposit box at the bank. lol.
Josh, I was wondering if it's time to create a new thread for this month's read yet? Just a reminder it might be good to do that sometime soon. :-)

I wonder when it'll arrive (I ordered it the 1st).

I'm several chapters into it, and it certainly is interesting to say the least. The discussion will be lively for sure. I'm still not sure what to make of it.
lol, the chapters are kinda long, so I end up reading it a chapter at a time because I keep going to bed too late to read more than that. It's kind of annoying.
I'm not sure what I think of it yet, at the start of chapter 8 or around there anyway. But at least there seems to be something keeping me reading. It's not like I'm turned off completely... yet.

It looks so new, I'm almost scared to even browse ...
lol, I know, doesn't it? I can't wait to read it... or have I said that already? hehehe. Whatever. I still can't wait.
Oh, I was just looking at a book the other day that would be good for it... I just can't remember what it was... something by Clare London. I'll have to look it up.
You can shoot me for this but I'm going to recommend two books for October. The first is Clare London's Branded and the second is Maria McCann's As Meat Love Salt, a historical romance in 17th century Europe.
They're both long books, but Maria's is over 500 pages. Maria's is a hard book to read, but it's a good book, and I would love the chance to read it with others. Right now I'm about half way through it. So that would be my first choice.

October is going to be a hellish month for me, so I probably won't be very active on the web (other than the promo for the month's releases) so if you guys want to throw out some suggestions, I'll make a poll again and you can vote. And if I have time to join in the discussion, I will.
