Yes. If I read it, I'm thinking about it for days afterward. It's never a casual read, no matter how many times I've read it.

Yep. I totally see what you mean — and why reading TC would be challenging in the middle of your own writing. I agree with John that with a book that means so much to oneself personally, one should spend time with it only when it feels right to do so. When there is enough space to enjoy it wholly. When the mood, the state of mind is right — like you said yourself.
I've now spent two months thinking about TC every day. It's almost like a some kind of spell... and this was only the second time I've read it. I'm going to have withdrawal for sure... from both the book and the discussion! :)

I do understand that feeling. Also, I might find it difficult to discuss a beloved book with others in this sort of forum. Actually this group is the only forum I'd likely be comfortable with reading/discussing a book I deeply care about. This is a special place.

Results are in, it looks like. To Stupid To Live wins out! Woot! Go Anne!
Honestly, I picked that one and then went and read Two Hearts, Two Spirits between last night and this morning. It was a good book, but I'm glad we didn't pick that one. It just wasn't as good as I'd hoped.
...and now I must go buy a book. So excited... :-D

Okay, so the February topic isn't exactly over-crowded but I'll be happy to go back there if some of you haven't read the book yet and want to comment later.
Nevertheless, any ideas for March? Something that fits spring? (Hopefully spring will be here in March! *prettyplease*

http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/78...
We could recycle the same poll ;-))
GR isn't updating my email with our monthly discussion, so I keep forgetting to get over there and chat! GAH.
As far as next month... I have a pile of older stuff I haven't read yet. "older" lol. They've been sitting on my coffee table for at least a year. *sigh*
The Good Thief by James Buchanan
The Inventor's Companion by Ariel Tachna
Counterpoint: Dylan's Story by ruth Sims
Blacker than Black by Rhi Etzweiler
I know several people in our group have read that last one recently, but figured I'd throw it up there anyway. I'm sure others haven't read it yet.

ARGH. March is going to be a hectic month, so don't read anything I wanna read!!!
Just kidding. ;-P
Just kidding. ;-P

(Provided, of course, that I remember to participate when the time comes.)
Gosh, looks like folks are already busy. Heck, I know I am! Maybe we should skip this month?
Or someone just post a poll with the few that have been seconded?
Or someone just post a poll with the few that have been seconded?

(and I try to strech the rules that were set up sometime in past [you can either suggest or second one book and only one book])
It looks like we've only got seconds for Plan B and Snap. Prey gathered some interest and approval, not only this months but on several occasions before.
Gosh, the question becomes, would I reread the book I'd want to read this month, or go by what I remember? lol. Not sure there will be time to reread, but who knows.
Just doesn't seem like many people are piping up to suggest things. Or we can do the poll and play it by ear, and just see what happens.

I kind of really want to have a discussion about Prey. That's such an interesting book/series. Definitely one that can't be put down. :-)

Even if I don't take part, I'd enjoy the discussion. That's a series I'm intrigued by.

The poll runs till March 6. It's anonymous and results are hidden until the poll is finished.

I'd hope for more of us participating in the discussion of Prey but it definitely will be interesting to here what everybody thinks of this book. :)

Maybe if not very many people vote we can save what we voted for until next month? That might be another option. Unless the majority is to wait until April.

I'll set up a topic for those of you who want to read and discuss it. :)
Do the people who voted to wait want to read Prey? And do the people who voted to read Prey mind waiting if we all want a really good discussion? I don't mind waiting. Either way I'm going to be busy, but I'd love to discuss it with ya'll. lol

As Johanna left for warmer (and sunnier) regions

Discussion of Prey will then start at April, 20.
I hope that's okay with you.

YAY! That sounds fantastic. I just want a bunch of people to be able to talk about this interesting book.

That's fine with me! Between taxes and deadlines and proposals for next year...things are definitely crazier than usual at Chez Lanyon.

Sounds like a plan. And I totally like it when you go all dictator on us... *wide grin* Sometimes it seems to be the best (and only) thing to do to get us organized... ;)
Thank you for organizing the BOM read again, Calathea!

Some of us are going to have a chapter by chapter discussion of Come Unto These Yellow Sands in May. You're all welcome to join in! The more the merrier.

On the other hand if there are some people who want to read something else as book of the month you can do that too and we'll set up a topic for that.
So, any suggestions for BOM #2 or are you going to join our CUTYS-dicussion?

I'm staying with CUTYS. Anything more (regarding group reads) most likely won't happen for me next month.
Good choice, though!

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. You have to spend time with it when it feels right to do so. It has so many connections to me that over-exposure can lead to a sort of electrical overload.
