I'd be willing to do both.

Yep. We could do that. I bet that you would actually know how to set one up... right? ;)
And I bet that Josh wouldn't mind you doing it, because he said that he probably won't be able to participate much in the BOM discussion in November anyway...

I am happy with whatever you all want to do -- I'll join in where and when I can. It's very relaxing to me that you guys are taking charge of this!

I took liberty and set it up. ;)
So, the poll for November's BOM is up. Go vote here .
It's running through Satturday (11/3), so we'll have enough time to read and discuss afterwards. Discussion starts November, 24th.
ETA: The votes are anonymous and the results will be hidden until the time for voting is up.

Yes, ma'am. I did vote already, ma'am. :)

Not hard to find at all. I just looked it up on Amazon. It's available in print for about $15. I could go with Fadeout. It would be great to get to know the series with a group.
If I were to go with something I already own but haven't read yet... hmmm...
The God Eaters, this one I've had for ages, but still haven't read. It's available free online at her website, or I think there's a print version available somewhere. I'd love to read this with a group, otherwise I might not get around to it!
Those are my only other suggestions.

Unless almost everybody has it already ;-)...
''The God Eaters'' is a great book, but I've recently read it the second time and I don't fancy reading it the third time in the near future, especially thinking that there are so many books to read...

Amazon has it available in Kindle format now. $7.99.

Now I don't know if it's quite fluffy enough to qualify as fairy-tale-like with a guaranteed happy end, though...

Not in Italy unfortunately, why? :(

Online sales get really screwy with different rights in different countries. Couldn't tell ya why that is!

Ha. (Somehow I'm fighting the urge to stick my tongue out. Don't know why that is...^^)
Maybe he has a hidden humorous side? Convince me? :)
I received my copy of The Complete Brandstetter (copy-catting Johanna) last week, so Fadeout would work for me... with a magnifying glass. ;-)
But I'd like all of us to be able to participate, and it's really a shame the Kindle version isn't available to everyone.

Not in Norway either. :( .I actually thought I had Fadeout since I bought all the Brandstetter books they had in the store many years ago, but that was not the whole series unfortunately, I have seven out of twelve. Now I of course have to buy the other five if I can find out where to get them.
Did we also at some point (last autumn) talk about possibly wanting to read one of Andrea Speed's books from the Infected series? Jordan, you probably remember better? :)
I've read the first book Prey and I have the second one, but I haven't red it yet. Probably wouldn't describe these fluffy though... ;)

Hey, reading with magnifying glass would really be a sign of true commitment on the Book of the Month Club... ;)

I just bought my mom the first two Brandstetter books in paperback. She got them Friday, in fact. Anyway, I was talking to her about my "Complete" copy, and telling her I'd have to go off to Walmart to get a nice big magnifier so I could read the ones that aren't available on Kindle. Now she's convinced that I can't even read the newspaper any more. Sigh. She just hasn't seen how TINY that darned print is in the compiled version of the Hansen!

LOL. :) I was afraid the text would be even smaller... I was pleasantly surprised when mine arrived and I could actually make out the words. But, I haven't started to read it yet, so maybe I'll join you and Karen with my magnifying glass sooner than I realize... :)

Free USA Shipping-- http://www.thriftbooks.com/searchresu...
If someone tries the e-book- let us know?!
ETA:I e-mailed Betterworld Books to see if the digital is available internationally.

If you have never done ADE follow the link (about our e-books) because you need to register for an account with Adobe. Then when you buy you get a code that tells Adobe to release the book to your ADE reader. It works fine and if you have Calibre you can usually? get it into Calibre.

Okay- Kindle has Fadeout here in US- http://www.amazon.com/Fadeout-Brandst...
I can call Wisconsin tomorrow, if you want, to see if they sell the digital internationally.

Did we? I don't remember discussing them for a monthly read, but we did discuss them in the what are you reading now thread, I think.
Well, I'm on the last book in the series. I might be starting that sometime soon. And no, this series is not fluffy at all. There is a lot of angst.
Well, if The Godeaters and Fadeout don't do it for everyone, what about Two Hearts Two Spirits. I recommended that once, and there seemed to be interest, though we didn't pick it.
Or
The Persistence of Memory. I have yet to read that one too. Though I don't know how fluffy they are.

lol, sounds like what I did when I took the Special Forces original PDF edition and tried to read it on my Kindle. I had to go to STaples to get a magnifying glass.

Guess we're going with Fadeout after all? Sounds good. Now I just have to decide whether it will be kindle or print, though I think I'm leaning toward kindle.

Because you have to download the application, buy the book. It's not THE book, it's a link that through ADE gives you access to the book and download it to your ADE library. A couple of times the download didn't happen, because there were issues with the link, so I had to ask to be reimbursed. If it's a plain PDF, you can transfer the file from your ADE library to your kindle. If it's DRM, you can't and you have to do something illegal with your legitimately purchased book: use calibre to strip it of the DRM and then transfer it to your kindle. If you don't have a kindle, maybe it takes a step or two less to read the book. All the Italian online publishers seem to be very fond of ADE epub, which is an additional problem for those who have a kindle, because you also have to convert the format. I know that having a kindle I'm a subject of Amazon, blah blah, but the majority of US publishers let me download a mobi file and with one transfer or an email I can transfer it to my kindle, voila! :)

Though I have yet to command the book and download ADE.
English print books are really, really lon..."
Have you tried to buy them from Amazon.co.uk? Since when Amazon got to Italy, I find 90% of them from .it and since I subscribed to Prime I receive them in 3 days usually. I thought it worked the same way in France.
Do you guys want to have a poll or did we already choose Fadeout by Joseph Hansen?
Let's at least wait what the boss has to say about this, although I assume that he's pretty busy enjoying the flow while he's on a roll writing Holmes & Moriarity #3 — 'cause that's the one he's writing, ISN'T HE?! :)
February is going to be a busy month for me at work and near the end of the month I'm going to take a trip, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to participate. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd love to read Fadeout with you all (and I will, if it's chosen), but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to participate in the discussion and therefore I don't want to pressure you guys to choose Fadeout. I hope this came out right... ;)

There's still time, right?
We have Fadeout on the list with a number of supporters.
In addition
Prey,
Two Hearts Two Spirits and
The Persistence of Memory
were mentioned but are without supporters until now. But who knows, they might find supporters if advertised. ;)

Jordan proposed Two Hearts Two Spirits or The Persistence of Memory (but we already had JCP once, so maybe we could try a different author?)

Thank you, Manu, for thinking of something lighter! :)
I'm not against reading Fadeout. It's just, after The Charioteer was hard work for me, I wouldn't want to read something similar classic shortly after that. Maybe in March or the month after that or after that... *kidding*

Yeah, I definitely recommend The Persistence of Memory for everyone here. It's a wonderful book!!! But I agree with Manu — since we've recently read JCP's Magic Mansion as the Book of the Month, I think we shouldn't take another one of her books in the poll (not at least this soon).

Both are short (Dry Bones has 51 pages and Skybound 44 pages) so if folks want to read and discuss both they would probably manage it. And if somebody wants to read only the other one that would be all right too...
