Jeannette | 2 comments I read a trilogy like 7 years ago and I can't remember the name of the books or the author. I do remember that the main character's name is Jaron or Jarom and he is born without magic which normally would result in the infants death. His mother teaches him some sleight of hand and other tricks in order for him to remain alive. I think at one point in the series their world and our world come to war. Sorry I don't much else. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

LeAlan (altimas) | 5 comments Yes, I finished this trilogy not to long ago when I got it at a yard sale. Its the Darksword Trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I think it is out of print but you can prolly find it on Amazon or paperbackswap. The first two books were great and then the third totally turned the story around and I didn't really like how they did that. Other than that it was a good read.

Margot | 6 comments I really liked this series, and was happy to have the chance to meet Tracy Hickman at a writers' conference a couple of years ago.

A friend of mine liked it so much she named her kids after characters in the series!

Spaz_OL Check out the Deathgate Cycle by the same authors. Some of the very best fantasy reading I've ever experienced.

I'm guessing you've never read Lois Bujold, Tanya Huff, Dave Duncan, Patrick Rothfuss, or me, then.
