Manwich sounds really bad. Why is it named Manwich? Maybe it's 'manly' food?

message 352: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's a marketing gem. Probably from Best Foods or some such conglomerate.

message 354: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments What's the name of those frozen TV dinners that are supposed to be man-sized?

message 355: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Hungry Man dinners.

message 356: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Oh, yes. It's been a long long time since I've eaten a TV dinner in the foil divided tray.

When I was little, my mom used to get us those TV dinners as a treat when we had a babysitter. I remember trying to eat the enchiladas and Mexican rice and telling Mom that it was "too spicy to eat." I think I was five or six years old.

I loved those enchilada tv dinners.

Phil | 11848 comments A sandwich is just a sandwich.

A Manwich is a MEAL!

message 359: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) They're just sloppy Joes.

message 360: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments And I'm having them for dinner tonight again! I feel manly.

Good for you, Helena! People underestimate the sufficiency of TV dinners and Manwiches.

I'll probably have four tacos from Taco Bell smothered in fire sauce.

I've never been able to develop a taste for Taco Bell. I keep trying... I don't know if they have these all over the US, or just Western NY- I like Mighty Taco. Yum. Unfortunately, Esme- my husband has a limited supply of recipes: Manwich, Hamburger Helper and Chef Boy R Dee are about it. It's better than nothing, I guess :D

message 363: by [deleted user] (new)

I only order the Crispy Potato soft taco and their Volcano taco when I go there, everything else is too bland for me.

Dirty rice with brussels sprouts, peapods, and paneer. (Meatless.)

Phil | 11848 comments We had our anniversary dinner at the local fondue/steak place.

message 366: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments Congratulations Phil... I wish I could go to that place. sigh. I’m going to go melt some cheese on a piece of bologna and pretend.

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Last night we had...I'm not sure what to call it. I cut up some sirlion sirloin steak, grilled it with onions and red peppers, tossed that with some baby spinach, five cheese ravioli, italian dressing, and feta cheese. It was very tasty.

Tonight we're having falafels with cucumber sauce.

Lobstergirl | 24812 comments Mod
I hope no lions were harmed in the making of that steak.

message 369: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Ha! Yes, yes there were, but only two and they're recovering nicely.

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds really good.

Tonight I'll go to On The Border and have their House salad, Chile Renello and an enchilada. And then apple pie.

Leftovers.

message 372: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (atekayla) I don't do the cooking (I don't know how unless you count frying eggs or boiling pasta cooking) so I get to eat whatever my boyfriend cooks when he gets home from work tonight.

My dry cleaner's used to force an enormous calendar on me every year. You could not say no. If you tried, they'd insist, "Take it. Take it. Take it." They called me by my last name. Let's say my name was Bloomberg. They'd say, "Hi Bloom BERG. Hi Bloom BERG." Twice.

message 374: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments maybe I'll be ambitious enough to make pasta primavera in cream sauce tonight. maybe. depends on the migraine and how nauseous I am feeling.

message 375: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments Something with chicken pieces and asparagus. Not sure what yet.... chicken is so versatile, but I run out of things to make with it.

Lyzzibug ~Still Breathing~ (lyzzibug) | 708 comments Brought pizza home last night, went to tell hubby I was home, came back in the kitchen and my 18mo was quickly closing the box of pizza with pepperoni sticking out of his mouth. He had pulled the chair out climbed on it to get to the pizza.

"You girls are SO LUCKY. Do you have and idea how fortunate you are?"

Have fun Esme, and count your blessings.

message 387: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Today the Texas shrimp truck is in town with fresh Gulf shrimp. Yum. So we will have some type of shrimp, and I am working on a batch of deviled eggs just because I am craving them.

message 388: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) We're having bacon and eggs. Some people would say we're having breakfast for supper.

message 389: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 14, 2011 05:10PM) (new)

Harrisa marinated loin, shank bastilla, rita, grilled chops, pepper salad, and hummus. And I'm still hungry.

I love breakfast for supper! When I’m on nights I make everyone eat breakfast for supper at least twice a week :)

You shore have a purty mouth.

message 393: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11848 comments We had to squeeze dinner in between karate and a soccer practice. I was planning to have a couple of fried eggs and maybe a piece of toast. Instead, I had a few pieces of my son's orange chicken from Panda Express. He wasn't very hungry.

message 394: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24812 comments Mod
I wouldn't mind some Panda Express right now. Or in about 2 hours. When I'm going to be hungry again and will have to eat an orange.

message 395: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11848 comments No fried panda, Barb. Only boiled.

message 396: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Okay, now I have to go eat an orange. Thank goodness you were talking about chocolates.

message 397: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I love having breakfast for supper but cannot have either bacon or sausage anymore because the preservatives trigger the migraines.

Sarah | 13814 comments That sounds nice, Phil.

message 400: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11848 comments Should be fun. The kids (and me?) can run around on the rocks while the grownups fix the food. I might take a couple of mountain bikes & see if I can convince anyone to ride.
