Speaking of food and dogs...my SIL has been having a fit on FB about people selling dog meat by the pound in Vietnam and Thailand. She wants everyone to write their congressman (no idea what good that would do) and the Thai/Vietnam govt in protest. Here's the thing, she's not even a veggie! A dog lover to be sure. But, do we really have the right to tell another culture what is acceptable as meat? I would imagine India would then tell is not to eat cow...

I don't really want to eat dog or anything. I just don't feel like I can tell another culture what to eat. Seems a bit egocentric to me.

I 'm still chuckling over this, Cynthia.

Sometimes when I'm traveling and I don't feel like going to another restaurant I will get something like this in a supermarket for dinner.

message 3114: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I know of many people who do just that for a quick and easy meal.

message 3115: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments We had these really yummy lamb and fetta sausages . Sprouts, carrots and potatoes.

message 3116: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Last night we had pasta with tomato sauce and some Italian Sausage (mild.)

For dessert, I had some Lemon Tart. I made it for E's 20-year-old friend's birthday. He said I was the only one who offered to make him a birthday cake. We decorated it with blueberries and blackberries and purple grapes and he brought the leftovers home to his roommates (family of seven, five little kids.)

My good deed of the day. Happy Birthday, Micheal.

Driftwood | 58 comments well, I could use some help in this matter. I have chicken breast, noodles, mixed frozen veggies. What can I do to throw it all together? any ideas? something easy. '

message 3121: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments I know this is probably too late for supper tonight, but here's a recipe.

Cook your pasta, drain, and set aside. In some olive oil, cook diced chicken, a couple teaspoons raw garlic and some thyme until chicken is done. Add vegetables and cook for 6-9 minutes, until veggies are tender. Add in pasta and half a cup of parmesan cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. It's quick and pretty tasty. If you don't mind a little added fat, you can add 1/4 cup cream to hold everything together.

message 3122: by [deleted user] (new)

Moussaka. A wonderful Greek dish that sets my mouth a watering.

For desert: Boston Cream Pie.

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments I'm waiting for Mr Evie to get on with making dinner. I did threaten to make a salad but now that it's dinner time, I find I am just too darn lazy.

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I think we're going to make some Blue Apron recipes tonight. A broth bowl, and some sort of chicken.

Driftwood | 58 comments I made chili and it was great. Mother in law complained about the chunks of tomato. Oh brother. Hard critics here. I am just happy if someone cooks for me.

CD | 1577 comments About to eat stuffed cabbage rolls w/Italian green beans and carrots as the vegetable side.

message 3139: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Nothing - I have a headache that is making me nauseated.

message 3140: by Driftwood (new)

Driftwood | 58 comments Supposed to go out to eat, but I have a feeling it will be order in because its a dreary day and a big Steeler football game at 6.

message 3141: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments Had spaghetti with sauce for supper. I like the lightness of ground turkey. I feel guilty about using sauce from a jar, but I do it and then doctor it up with garlic salt, pepper, and oregano. I add a little Pepsi to loosen it up and sprinkle in a good bit of parmesan. My secret is to drain the spaghetti and then add a little butter. It was pretty good.

The largest size of McDonald's Big Mac, called a Grand Mac. They now come in three sizes. I just wanted to try it. I won't buy one again, it was simply too big and too messy to eat. I practically had to take a shower afterwards.

message 3143: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments I'm not crazy about McDonald's burgers, but I do like their McNuggets. Who knows what's in them, but they taste good. Got a new Mexican recipe book and tried the tamale pie. Turned out ok, but I think I need to buy some real Mexican spices.

McNuggets are sooooo good.

message 3145: by Driftwood (new)

Driftwood | 58 comments I had the artisan grilled chicken sandwich from McD's for lunch the other day and it was decent. Mother in law making beef stew for dinner tonight. Her cooking is very bland. As long as I don't have to cook it, I will eat it.

message 3146: by CD (new)

CD | 1577 comments After researching Interesterified oils/fats I may never enter anything resembling a fast food or donut establishment again. EVER.

Then again I don't eat fast food. Donuts on the other hand I have to find a new source.

Dinner tonight? No Clue. Lunch isn't over yet.

message 3147: by CD (new)
