The Uptown salad is a flavorful combination of diced apples, dried cranberries, whole grapes, diced red onions, crumbled blue cheese, and candied walnuts.
It's a great salad.
It's a great salad.

Potbelly is the name of the restaurant franchise. Uptown is the opposite of downtown. I think Uptown means classy (walnuts, blue cheese, cranberries...)

There's hair in my salad. Eww.
I guess uptown could mean classy--might depend on the town, though... According to its website, the Potbelly sandwich shop chain has no locations in the state of New York, which is probably why I've not heard of it. The pictures of the original location in Chicago do look appealing.
Yes, I thought Esme was in Manhattan. Maybe she's eating in New Jersey today.
Potbelly is more known for its sandwiches, which I actually don't really like. I like their chili, and their Uptown salads, and their shakes. But in downtown Chicago people will line up outside Potbelly's at lunchtime, they're so popular.
Uptown isn't really the epitome of classy in Chicago. Lincoln Park and Gold Coast would be considered more classy, probably. I think they're just using Uptown in the same way Billy Joel did in "Uptown Girl."

I wish they would build a Potbelly's in NY.
I don't think they have a Potbelly in NJ. I'm in Philadelphia right now with my mom to see my grandmother. There are alot over here.

That 1957 Messerschmitt KR-200 does look pretty neat, Larry.LG: No, no. CB was and still is beautiful. I remember once seeing her and Billy Joel in a restaurant around 1989 or so. She was stunning. (Him...maybe a bit less so.)
The "uhm..." was in response to Larry's msg. 315.
She's a model, I think. For SI Swimsuit Edition.
Oh! Was she the one who had a kid with Billy Joel?
It all makes sense now. I'm slow when I eat.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...I'm dead now.
I was going to wish that we had Pret-a-Manger here but I just found out we do! YAY. I love their sandwiches.

mild chicken curry with basmati rice
baked pineapple with honey-allspice-cardamom sauce
Made the best scallops for my 19-year-old Saturday night. They were seared in a cast iron skillet and served with a blood orange reduction. On the side, a little blood orange salsa/garnish.It was one of the prettiest dishes I've ever made, I must say.
Thanks to missing my best friend's birthday yesterday, I know have to spend all day making her a birthday cake today. So frosting and M&M's for dinner tonight. Maybe a sandwich if I'm lucky.
Asparagus at the farmer's market this weekend! Unless Zu has made dinner by the time I get home, I plan on making linguini with asparagus and mushrooms and goat cheese. We had the same three + cheddar on pizza yesterday with sweet potato butter as the sauce. It was excellent.
