Susan | 6406 comments I enjoy leeks. Potato leek soup is divine. I just found a recipe for leeks in a mustard sauce. It sounds interesting.

message 2902: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Leeks by any other name would hide just as much dirt in them.

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
You have to clean them carefully. Although, ingesting the dirt wouldn't kill you. Probably.

message 2904: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Depending on where you dug them up.

message 2905: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Maybe if they grew them hydroponically.

message 2906: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments There can still be dirt with that process.

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
If the soil contains toxins, you wouldn't want to be ingesting either the soil or the vegetable. Unless you did want to. Then be my guest.

I would but I lost your address.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments You mean the ficus?

message 2913: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments Not The Ficus, there was another plant at some point too.

message 2914: by Susan (last edited Mar 13, 2013 09:50AM) (new)

Susan | 6406 comments We had two plants!

Ficus, where are you?

It is chili for tonight. I need to start cooking the beans and tomatoes.

message 2915: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments Nope, no ficus here on the new page.

Yet.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Begonia?

message 2917: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments The Ficus begonia?

message 2921: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Tonight I am braising Texas beef ribs in beer, veg. stock, carrots, onions, garlic and celery. It's in the oven for two hours. Maybe I will fix risotto to go with it.

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
Snacking on chips & salsa, so I won't be hungry for another couple hours. No idea what I'll eat at that point. I have a bunch of fresh vegetables, a butternut squash, rice, pasta.

Phil | 11850 comments We plan to fire up the grill for BBQ steak.

message 2926: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I wish. My grill has about 8" of snow on it now. Spring can't come soon enough.

Romaine salad with grape tomatoes, artichoke, red onion, shaved parmesan, mushrooms.

Phil | 11850 comments Phil wrote: "We plan to fire up the grill for BBQ steak."

The plan worked exactly as hoped. Two beautiful steaks, grilled veggies, and a glass of cabernet.

Stuffed and happy.

message 2929: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Makes me long for living there.

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
Fried chicken and coleslaw.

message 2933: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments Caesar salad.

Technically, Mrs. Phil had a Caesar and I just had a salad, as I don't use the dressing. My salads are almost always naked.

message 2934: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
I can't eat naked salad.

message 2935: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I usually am unable to eat a naked salad unless I have an avocado or hummus on hand to throw in it.

message 2936: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
Oh no. I need a really, really super thin dressing. Avocado is good on a salad, but it ain't dressing. Hummus is....very thick. Very, very thick.

I sometimes buy store ranch dressing and water it down by at least 50%.

message 2937: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments ::gags::

That goes against everything I know and love about ranch dressing.

message 2938: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "I can't eat naked salad."

Nor can I! If I leave my salad dressing at home when I take my salad to work, I am pissed off and disappointed too. I've even thought about taking a sample of somebody's dressing from the communal fridge. I'm so ashamed.

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments Susan wrote: "I usually am unable to eat a naked salad unless I have an avocado or hummus on hand to throw in it."

I only like avocado sliced and eaten without any other food. I especially loathe it when it's combined with chicken on a sandwich.

message 2940: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments Dinner tonight was satay beef kebabs, rice, corn, and peas. Mr evie was the cook.

Can't say I blame you there.

I have leftover spicy rice with cauliflower that I am throwing into meatball and pasta soup. May as well combine the two.

message 2943: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm looking for some fish tonight. I think I know just where to find it, too.

Félix (habitseven) Newport Seafood Grill near the Lloyd Center. Halibut fish & chips. It was overcooked and dry. I should have sent it back.
