message 2201: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments It was a presidential campaign slogan from before even Felix and my time.

message 2202: by [deleted user] (new)

Gotcha.

Then, no, not Tyler too. But, the best Reuben I've ever had! Gotta go hungry, cause it's as big as my head with a side of real, fresh cut, fries.

Jim, STOP IT!! I told him he could decide and he hasn't yet, now I've got my mouth all screwed up for anything but a TC Reuben!!

message 2203: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Time to start dropping hints, be subtle like printing out Felix's picture and handing it to him.

message 2204: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments A boy in my Middle School named Tyler something used that slogan in his run for class president.

Okay, I laughed out loud...and contemplated it.

Cheesy, if I actually understood the reference (which I doubt, since I didn't at 41) I would have voted for the other guy BECAUSE he did that.

message 2207: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) He did not.

message 2208: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments He did! And I believe he did lose the election, but the government teachers all found it wildly amusing.

Tippecanoe was a reference to William Henry Harrison, the "Hero of Tippecanoe." Tippecanoe was an 1811 battle in Indiana. Canoes were involved. Or maybe not.

message 2210: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not.

message 2211: by Riona (new)

Riona (rionafaith) | 488 comments Just ordered some lamb tikka masala.

Looks like I'm going to be working late for the next few weeks, so I need to find some time to go shopping and stock up on some lean cuisines. I've been spending a small fortune on takeout.

THANK YOU, LG. As always you come through. I was trying to explain this thread to Honey last night and I still couldn't say what the heck it meant!

Who's Tyler?

message 2213: by [deleted user] (new)

And, do you really love lobster, or do you just get kinda orangy when you get hot?

message 2214: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments I had chicken schnitzel with steamed vegetables .

message 2215: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Amelia, John Tyler was Harrison's running mate, who became president when Harrison died.

message 2216: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh.

I am woefully uneducated when it comes to past presidents. Washington/Lincoln/FDR...okay fine. But John Tyler? Nope, sorry, never heard of him.

I do really love lobster, but I can no longer remember why I acquired this name. It could be from a sunburn. I just don't know.

message 2218: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments It's a mystery.

message 2219: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Wrapped in an enigma. Or is it bacon?

message 2220: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24815 comments Mod
Probably just potato salad.

message 2222: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've never tried lobster potato salad -- but I think I would like it.

message 2223: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments I had steak cubes on a stick, mingled with green bell pepper and onion.

Okay, it was BBQ shishkabob.

message 2224: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24815 comments Mod
Okay.

message 2225: by [deleted user] (new)

Mmm, Phil, we haven't made those in a long time, I'll have to get some goods and put that back in the mix!

I think I need to go out tonight, to The Rock:

Somebody put pizza in my head yesterday and I've been obsessing ever since.

I haven't had pizza in a long time. I eat so much rice. Maybe I should get my arsenic levels checked.

Get your old lace levels checked, too. Might as well do both together.

Lobstergirl | 24815 comments Mod
No worries there, I HATE LACE.

message 2229: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments We're probably going out for dinner tonight. Three of our five weekend guests have arrived and I've been too busy to prepare anything.

message 2230: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments We are having meatloaf ,wedges, and salad. I made the meatloaf as Mr evie is not responsible for the cooking of the Sunday night dinner.

message 2231: by [deleted user] (new)

We're having diabetic chili dogs with cheese, jaloppies and EXTRA onion! Mmmmmm.

message 2232: by evie (new)

I didn't like it .

message 2233: by [deleted user] (new)

Which bit, Evie?

I think we'll have some chicken & rice...nothing exciting. I need to go shopping.

Basmati rice with turmeric, cauliflower and broccoli, and spicy cajun sausage. (All together.) I forgot to put in chopped garlic.

message 2235: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments ::chants, with Laryx, Jim, and everyone else...::

message 2240: by [deleted user] (new)

BEER CAN CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 2241: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments We had some amazing beef brisket. I cooked it on the stove top over the weekend, it had a few days to marinade in red wine, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaf and beef stock before we ate it. SO tender.

message 2242: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments Amelia wrote: "BEER CAN CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Beer can do lots of stuff.

message 2243: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments What is beer can chicken?

Tonight we are having grilled lamb chops with steamed carrots and broccoli and potato.

message 2244: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments I think it's when you insert a half-full can of beer into the body cavity of the chicken, then BBQ the chicken in a vertical position.

message 2245: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly, Phil. But, Mr. Amy has made the executive decision that I have to have a phone upgrade TODAY and therefore we are going out to dinner. :(

Pot roast vegetable soup. I threw in some leftover basmati rice and it was DELICIOUS.

For dessert, homemade shortbread cashew cookies.

message 2247: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I get my beer can chicken tonight. Or, if I feel better and they'd rather (the step-son is over tonight) I ordered stuff to make steak/shrimp/chicken fajitas.

message 2248: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments I'm making Morrocan fava beans, blue grenadier and greek salad.

message 2249: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4445 comments We had delicious hamburgers.

message 2250: by [deleted user] (new)

We had fajitas (steak & shrimp) last night. I'm thinking Italian tonight?
