What Are You Going to Have for Dinner Tonight?

Yeah, I hardly ever cook raw artichokes because they're a bit of work. I love the marinated artichoke hearts that come in a jar though. Sometimes I get these amazing grilled marinated ones from the olive bar in the grocery store.

A lot of work to cook, and a lot of work to eat. I've only had them once, at someone's house. They were good but way too labor intensive on both fronts for me.

We were at a golf event last night, where they served cheeseburgers and fries. It's been a long time since I've had a burger.

I had a kosher dog from Five Guys the other day and it was so tasty. Sometimes you just want a dog.

Penne pasta salad with steamed broccoli, red and yellow peppers. Ice water. Smarties for dessert.

Phantom Canyon Smoked Gouda and Blonde-Ale Soup
another gentle reminder to cut the recipe back, as needed
INGREDIENTS
8 cups chicken stock
6 cups Queen’s Blonde Ale
1 1/2 pounds potatoes, peeled and chopped
6 cups heavy cream
2 pounds Gouda cheese, shredded
1 teaspoon salt
pinch of white pepper
DIRECTIONS
in a large pot, combine the stock, beer and potatoes, then bring to a boil.
reduce heat to a simmer, and cook until the potatoes are tender.
remove from heat, and puree the mixture. (be careful handling the hot liquid; i’ve used either a hand blender or KitchenAid blender.)
return the mixture to the stove and add the cream, salt and pepper.
bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 – 7 minutes.
remove from heat, and add stir in the cheese.
top with a few pieces of popcorn, if you’re so moved.

Oooh! Thanks for the recipe.
I actually hate the taste of beer in terms of drinking, but I quite like a little beer in cooked dishes....
On topic: I'm making some chicken thighs and mushrooms braised in white wine with cheddar grits on the side.
I did not. I did run into another cart, though, thanks to a traffic backup by a sausage sample table.

Damn this thread. It always makes me hungry, even when I've just eaten.
Marinated chicken breast with rice, peas and corn. Apple pie and cream for dessert. I didn't make the pie.

Haven't been hungry for dinner much lately, honey has been rocking the Stoffers (sp).

Box. Swedish meatballs once and meatloaf once. He likes 'em. I can't eat microwaved meat...grosses me out. I get the non-meat Lean Cuisine for me, cheese ravioli or lasagna, mac, rice & beans, that sort of thing. And, I eat those for lunch. At home I normally cook...normally.

Don't know, I'm taking Honey out for dinner tonight to celebrate a cool contract for his company and I told him he could pick...he hasn't yet. I'm hoping Tippy Canoe!
