You're making me hungry!! (again!!)

I had a hotdog on pumpernickel bread and topped it with german mustard, spinach, green onion, curry catsup, and mushrooms cooked in butter.

Phil | 11850 comments I'm thinking tonight will be a trip to Mongolian Grill. Mrs. Phil doesn't care for it, so it's a place I generally hit when she's out of town.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Phil, I am in the same boat. Mr. Cynthia is on the road (again) so I'm foraging with my college girl. I'll probably fix something vegetarian....*(forages for an idea for dinner)*

Do you just rob the customers, or also go for the safes in back?

message 1359: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments If the plural of leaf is leaves, the plural of calf is calves and the plural of sheaf is sheaves, shouldn't the plural of safe be saves?

Yes, I realize "safe" doesn't end with an "f," but it ends with the "f" sound.

By the way, I don't rob the customers or the store. I just walk up and punch the place.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Roof doesn't fit the pattern either, although rooves would be a pretty cool word if it existed.

Le Corbusier's 1937 building dwarfs his 1925 one. Both are filled with dwarves.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Do the dwarfs dance on the rooves roofs?

message 1366: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24814 comments Mod
No, they are too stoned on roofies.

message 1367: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Interesting, not sure if this is completely accurate, but according to Wikipedia, "For dwarf, the common form of the plural was dwarfs—as, for example, in Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs—until J. R. R. Tolkien popularized dwarves; he intended the changed spelling to differentiate the "dwarf" fantasy race in his novels from the cuter and simpler beings common in fairy tales, but his usage has since spread. Multiple astronomical dwarf stars and multiple nonmythological short human beings, however, remain dwarfs."

The difference is that safe ends with "fe" and thus a labiodental "eff" sound while calf and the like just end with "f" and thus a guttural back of the tongue "uff" sound. Totally different, moot point.

I will never forget the grape juice that stained our living room carpet in our old apartment (I admit it was a small room but almost half of the carpet ended up purple) On the other hand..... I was really looking forward to Chix noodle soup so maybe you're right :)

I agree with LG that anything can be eaten in the living room, but for easy snackable food try some Lebanese meze dishes. Yum!

That is a great suggestion! I'll have to go to the grocery store and pick up a few things, thanks!!

Evie, unfortunely my house-mates will not miss even one second of the race (not even to eat!) so unless I want them to starve......

We have no alternative to eating in the lounge/living room at our house. My daughter likes to watch a favourite DVD while she's chomping.

Unfortunely our's is too! We normally eat in the office because it's good sized and right by the kitchen.
