Just for color?

message 702: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments Sure. Once they're on the bbq they don't taste much different from the green. At least to my uneducated palate.

message 703: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) They have palate schools now?

Does Grandpa pull them off and set them to the side?

message 705: by Lee (new)

Lee | 701 comments He puts them on the smaller palate.

Phil | 11850 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "Does Grandpa pull them off and set them to the side?"

He ate the onions. The peppers were pushed to the side.

Nice guess. :)

You could always cook his meals from Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food.

"stealthily packed with unseen veggies, puréed so kids will never suspect."

Nope. My local Dahl's had boneless Angus Beef brisket for $3.69/pound.

"Pork Sausage Skillet." I'm delving into my Time-Life ground meats cookbook from 1971.

message 712: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I remember 1971 as if it were yesterday.

message 713: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But I don't remember yesterday.

message 714: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments Hey Larry, you lived in Utah a while, right? Do you ever had LDS flashbacks? Or do you stick with the more traditional LSD type?

message 715: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) On days when my dyslexia flares up I get the LDS variety.

message 716: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments HA! Dyslexia flare-up. That's my newest excuse.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Steak sandwich, onion rings and a white Russian.

message 718: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Last night Mr. Cynthia was feeling a bit under the weather so I cooked up some potato gnocchi and about 4 pounds of homemade Buffalo Chicken Wings. They turned out very well--way better than the takeout wings available around here.

message 719: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) I'm having a sausage and mixed bean casserole tonight... as someone who lives alone and keeps an eye on money I just make large pots of stuff over the weekend and then tupperware box n fridge it so I don't need to cook up anything from scratch after work.
This does mean repetitive meals but I don't hear anyone else in my house complaining ;D

Leftover pulled pork from yesterday's pig roast, along with wild rice and green beans.

It's times like this I wish I had a dog. I've got some tough roasted pig skin that I won't eat, but I hate throwing food away.

message 721: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments I had oatmeal. Everyone else had food from Wendy's.

None of us like to cook on Sunday.

Tom kha kai soup with rice and peas.

message 723: by Lee (new)

Lee | 701 comments Ka-Ka soup? :)

message 724: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Delicious tom kha kai soup - I cooked the rice in the soup, and added the peas with 10 minutes to go.

message 725: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) To go? You cooked soup to go?

That sound good! I lurve soup.

I'm having leftover eggplant paremesan, a bit heavy for my lunch at two in the morning, but that's all I had. Soup woud have been better.

message 730: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Soup is good food.

message 731: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I could probably eat soup almost every day.

message 732: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Hmm, gonna put some pasta on in a bit & have a quick stir in sauce. Followed by chocolate mousse (it's Friday, I can treat myself a little ;P)

Félix (habitseven) mmmm ... pig.

message 737: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments I made a strawberry-blueberry-banana smoothie, with a touch of vanilla.

message 738: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments I’m roasting a duck tonight, with roasted sweet potatoes and some green beans.

message 739: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments How does the duck feel about that?

message 740: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) Tonight we're having breakfast for supper. My daughter (6 y/o) wants French Toast and Daddy didn't get up in time to make it for her this morning. So, french toast, bacon and some kind of fruit. Covered with "Daddy's Sugar" (confectioner's sugar with cinnimon mixed in.)

Leftover Greek from last night.

And I found a diner near me that serves breakfast all day long, so excellent.

message 742: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I don't think I could eat breakfast all day long.

message 743: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

You never know until you try.

message 744: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments Phil wrote: "How does the duck feel about that?"

I don’t think the duck minded too much.

message 745: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) The duck proably wished you had wanted breakfast all day long.

message 746: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11850 comments I had Arby's. It's VERY salty.

message 747: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) The ducks hanging with heads still attached in the windows of Chinese restaurants always gross me out. Of course that's just the restaurants in Chinatown. PF Chang doesn't do that.

message 748: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments hm, yes- this duck was headless. Looked very much like a roasting chicken, really. Slightly different shape.
