You made me LOL. How sad, your little frowny face. Sorry. Can't answer why he made her laugh. I can say that in the first book Sparky was the best bit. He loves to lick electrical sockets to get a charge, he sleeps with a GloWorm, and gets jealous whenever someone hits on Anya. ;)

LOL! Steph is pretty close.

Sparky is a creature who feeds on energy or electricity - he's not picky, he loves tv's, coffee machines and gloworms!!! He has been Anya's protector since he rescued her when she was 7 from the fire that killed her mother. So they are pretty buddy buddy.

The scene that had me laughing was when Anya has to go to the forensics lab and Sparky ends up setting the lab on fire by "sunning" himself in front of a foot high bunsen burner. All the crime evidence is doused in water because of the fire and ruined. Anya gives him a glare once they are out of the lab that let's him know he messed up, and Sparky knows it, ducks his head and licks her cheek, begging for forgiveness.

There is another one, where they are at a bar and jules (a ghosthuner who ironically hates ghosts) is there and Sparky keeps jumping at the cash register (which beeps and spits out cash register tape when he does it) is getting Jules all riled up. You just know Sparky's enjoying getting Jules all fired up.

He's also always snuggling up to Anya and licking her check when he wants to comfort her. It's in those actions that you understand the depth of their relationship, which is actually much stronger and deeper than any of the humans she has friendships with.

Glad to here you also enjoyed Sparky Steph. And I love the gloworm picture. How cute!!

I haven't read #2 yet, but #1 was a 3★ for me. I'll be interested to hear what you think, once ya get to it. :) I am also interested to try her Oracle series under "Alayna Williams" to see how it compares.

I finished last night (03/24). I'm giving it ★★★★. I enjoyed it, but it's definitely not my favorite BDB book. It lost a star for too many misunderstandings and miscommunications between Butch and Marissa. Also, seriously, it read like M/M romance a lot of the time (between Butch and V), which was weird, given that they aren't gay. I do spend my time when I'm reading these books either rolling my eyes or LMAO at the random h's that Ward adds to words to make them "special."

I was doing my updates, and checking email, and my email said I was now friends with Nicky. I had no idea who that was, so I obviously checked her profile. I completely FORGOT, I invited this author to good reads, and now she has a profile!

If you are looking for some great shifter books (adult paranormal romance), I totally recommend her! Iaccidently found her when I looked up free ebooks when I first got my ipad! I was waiting forever for her 3rd book to come out. I am reading it now.

Her books are They are all actually free ebooks, and they are standard sized novels, not mini stories. If you like her, you will like Terry Spear, but maybe better.

Just thought if you haven't tried Nicky Charles books, you may want to give it a whirl. They are all free. I would have paid for them. You can google them, and download them. I like Nicky Charles, because she is Canadian and uses Canadian English. It adds to the book.

I finished First Grave on the Right for the paranormal shelf. This is a very enjoyable book, especially for a debut novel. Charley is such a fun and sassy protagonist. The sarcastic humor and interesting blend of mystery, paranormal and chick lit elements makes for a very entertaining read. I would definitely recommend this one and can't wait for the next book in the series to see what Charley takes on next.

Almost to Die for by Tate Hallaway - ★★★
Finished: March 26, 2011

The story is a solid read, but I found myself neither getting really excited about the story but not really disliking it also.

The strongest character is Anastasija (Ana). She is an outcaste in school and has few friends. We learn in the story that her mother is a witch and her father a vampire. She is their child through a marriage that was supposed to ensure peace between the species, but hasn’t. I disliked the parents characters throughout the book, especially the mother, whose attempt to control her daughter through casting a spell on her that took away her will, left a very negative impact on me. I did enjoy the two male love interests, who were the opposites of each other, ofcourse. One is a guard for the vampires and the second is a rocker, vampire hunter. An event that happened during a battle between the witches and vampires near the end of the book did set up an interesting scenario for the next novel. There were a couple of these “twists” but they really didn’t really add anything solid to story.
