I'm typing this on my iPhone app. Never done that before. Hope it works. I finished Some Girls Bite (can't do a link on this app) for my free space book. Loved it! I won't have time to review till probably Sunday though. Just found out my family is dropping by unexpectedly (which is the only way they do it) and my apartment is a mess AND I've got lunch plans tomorrow and I'm at work right now. On my lunch break actually. All that adds up to not having time to review right now. Sorry y'all! I'll get to it when I can.

I'm taking the kids to the library tomorrow, checked my reservations and one is ready for collection.I'm trying to get the YA books that way. Can anybody recommend any? I need to check for Mockingjay or I may just buy it...

Kelley Armstrongs YA books (The Darkest Power) books are really good! The series is complete, so there is no waiting around.
After I read them, I wrote to her and asked if she would add more. She wrote back like a year later and said she was adding another one, but it was going to start a new series (same charaters). I learned from those books to wait until a series is finished to start it (Like Faefever) otherwise, you will be frustrated for a year. HA! but fell back when I read Briggs! I should have stopped! AHHH! Anyway, it is really good if you want to read that!
Another good one is
but that leaves you hanging until this year sometime... I read all the books my kids are reading, so I know a few.

OK! I lied!! Don't start the Evernight series! The last book is out, and everyone is POed at the "WTF" ending... I can't read books that don't end right and resolved! If you love to be mad at books, this is the series for you HAHAHA! Soooo Don't even go there!
No worries Crystal, glad you loved
Hope you get your place cleaned up, boy, I know that feeling!Yay, Amanda, another freespace book being read!!
I'm not big on the YA so I'll let the others discuss em. LOL.
The books are for me. My library doesn't have a decent grown up section, although they are slowly adding to it. I have read all the books I want to read. I reserved Raised By Wolves which I am picking up today. I find I usually always end up disappointed with YA so I thought why not try and get them without paying for them :)
I don't have any preferences really. I loved Nightshade by Andrea Cremer but hated Hush Hush? If that helps...
Michelle, here are some YA I've read and liked:I agree w/Amy re: both
//
//
I've only read #1 for both the "Dark Elite" and "Study" series, but will be continuing. Study has gotten high praise around the group.
I've read all the "Vampire Academy" series by Richelle Mead and enjoyed them, but some don't.
Happy Hunting! :) Let us know what you decide on.
BTW - I really liked "Raised by Wolves", hope you enjoy it.
Steph wrote: "Michelle, here are some YA I've read and liked:I agree w/Amy re: both
//
/..."Thank you both! I will try the Kelley Armstrong ones, I accidentally purchased a novella on the Kindle which I think is from this series.
I loved the Study books, fantasy at it's best! I still have Storm Glass to read but I'm keeping it incase I need it for a shelf :) I've been hearing good things about Inside Out too.
I did read Firespell, thanks for reminding me about that one, I loved the Chicagoland Vamp books.
The kid section is closed in my library so I managed to pick up Raised By Wolves and I got
I'm in the queue for
. Looks like I'll be hitting the online catalogue again :) Has anyone tried Lauren Kate?
I've tried the first of Lauren Kate (Fallen) and personally didn't get on with it but I think if you really loved Twilight, you'll probably like this.
Josie wrote: "I've tried the first of Lauren Kate (Fallen) and personally didn't get on with it but I think if you really loved Twilight, you'll probably like this."Thanks for the warning, I didn't really like Twilight at all! :)
I'm going to change my free space selection. I have to return
to the library this week and I since I really want to read it and its on the group's book shelf, I'm going to use it instead of Shadowfever.Hope that's OK?
CyberAlmu wrote: "@Michelle: A good YA series which I enjoyed a lot is Caster Chronicles

Steph wrote: "CyberAlmu wrote: "@Michelle: A good YA series which I enjoyed a lot is Caster Chronicles

And yay! for the new shelf
I'm reading
for the _paranormal shelf. I need to read this for a few different challenges but I've been putting it off :)
Read March 19th ★★★★At the start of this one I decided I wasn't going to continue with these, half way through I was starting to change my mind. By the end I'm reading the next one! Then we'll see :)
I need to know what happens next.
This might just have been the turning point for for me - I'm starting to see why the raves outnumber the boo's.
I have no clue what it is about Richelle Mead's books that get me so worked up. I had to stop reading the Succubus books and depending on how Iron Crowned goes- it may be true for that series too.
Ok, I've found a little time for a quick review of my free space book. I finished
on 03/18/2011. I gave it ★★★★★. I really enjoyed it a lot. My only nitpick was not enough to make me lower the rating. I thought that Merit got used to her new situation (of being made a vamp against her will) too easily, but maybe she's just really well adjusted compared to me. LOL I'm definitely going to read the next in the series. I haven't decided on a paranormal book yet. I'm still debating.
Once again, fantastic work Michelle! First one to finish the shelf. Yay!!And great work Crystal! I'm looking forward to that series.
I think I've got everyone's picks so far, if I've made a mistake please let me know.

Great picks, Ladies! Good luck!
Sherri, I'll be interested to read your review of Sparks. I had mixed feelings about #1.
Yay Amanda! I've ordered
, if you choose that one I'd be interested to hear what you think. No pressure. LOL. Don't know the other one, will have to have a look.
I'm going to give Pack of Lies ★★★★.
I really liked this second book in the Paranormal Scene Investigations series. I enjoyed it even more than the first one, mainly because of the chemistry that is developing between Bonnie and Ben. I can't wait to see how it evolves in future books.
For those that have not read any of the PSI series, it it sort of like paranormal CSI. The team uses their paranormal skills or Talents to solve crimes. The crime in this book is very complex, full of political ramications, and I didn't fully figure it out until near the end (I hate when you can figur it out halfway through the book). There are a couple of side stories going on, one is between Ian and his sister Aden which is a continuation from the first book, and will probably continue in future works. For some reason though, that storyline was a bit fragmented for me and felt a bit forced to me.
Overall, Pack of Lies is a fast paced, action packed addition to the series and I would recommend it if you don't mind delving into details.
Book Completed: March 19, 2011
Sherri, I'll be interested to read your review of Sparks. I had mixed feelings about #1. Hmm, I really liked the first. I thought it was pretty original and that appealed to me. However, I could be a bit biased since I live around Detroit and it was so interesting to actually read about places and things that I have experienced! That may have influenced me. :-)

Thanks Sandra, I'm good for the next few weeks but then my maternity leave is over and I'm back to work on Saturday's. So it will take me a little longer to finish my book.
Crystal, I loved that series! Looking forward to the next one :)
I have a couple of Kitty books but I haven't read them yet, would you recommend them?

I hadn't heard of this series but the concept has sparked my interest. I love books when science meets the paranormal:)
Amanda wrote: "I will be reading either

Michelle, I definitely recommend the Kitty books. The first one was surprising and not at all what you expect and then they just get better. If you're interested we have a Jaz Parks We Love You thread, wherein we're reading all the books and we have till the end of December to do so. So sad about Jennifer Rardin.

I am glad you said that about shadowfever! I was drained too! It ended... no more to come :( I can't read her series though without having all the books at once. They all had really bad cliffhangers! I read all 5 in a week!
That's heavy stuff Amy, to read them all within a week. No wonder you're drained! But at least you wouldn't forget any details.

I thought bits were original and interesting, but overall, just ...? Dunno. I'm going to give #2 a go to see if like it any better though.
BTW - Did you switch you paranormal shelf book from Sparks to Pack of Lies or your free space read? Or just sharing your review? Sorry, I'm just trying to update the game spreadsheet and not sure if/where to put that one. :) Thanks!
Sassy wrote: "Michelle wrote: "Amanda wrote: "I will be reading either

There is going to be a Graphic Novel & Spin-off series. So... not completely done!

That sounds good, I'm going to try and get up to date with a few of the series I started this year before adding Kitty to the mix but I will start the Jaz Parks books (I need an O title for a challenge anyway). I'll sign up on the thread aswell. I was shocked to hear about Jennifer, I put the books aside for this year as I heard she had written the final one which was still to be released.
Michelle wrote: "Sherri changed her Free Space read to Pack of Lies, message 267 :)"Thanks! Missed that. :)
