Finished 5/7
★★★★
I really enjoyed this one. It was a little slow in the beginning and took a while to get into the story, but once it picked up it was a very entertaining read. Historical romance is one of my favorite genres so I loved the blending of genres with paranormal and historical romance. It will be interesting to see what Victoria gets into in the next book.
Yay Amanda, glad you liked the 1st Gardella, I'm looking forward to those. And very interested in what you think of Game Over, I've got that one & just pre-ordered Mind Games a couple of hours ago.
Hi all,After my second youngest son's 7th birthday party on Saturday, I spent most of Sunday in bed with a migraine - still feeling a bit woozy :(
I hope you all enjoyed your mother's day if you celebrated!
For the paranormal-romance shelf, put down Bite Marks (Jaz Parks #6) for me - 2 more to go til I finish this series!
08/05/11 I finished
I give it ★★★★It was about a voodoo preistess Cassandra you met in
who developed some powers and is off to Haiti to find a BA Voodoo priest in the mountains to give her zombie raising ceremony lesson. You hear early on that she is in witness protection. She finds a guide, Devon Murphy, who has an equally secret background. Of course a relationship insues (duh!) and trouble happens. She leaves, more trouble happens, and it ends and all answers are given in a page and a half. I was actually satisfied.
There is a question about all the accents Devon Murphy has, and it wasn't answered as well as it should. I am still thinking "huh??"
I am stuck at a 4 star, because I am reading a really STUPID erotic book now
and so I can't really bump the Midnight Moon book down too much, because it was 100's times better. I have not read the Lora Leigh part yet though... 5 Stars are reserved for the great authors who have great books.Sooo... Have a great week! I have 1 sick kid who swears he isn't despite a fever & 2 weeks left of school for 2 of them. Finals/crunch time/doctor etc.
OOOhhh hope you're feelin better Shelleyrae, and Amy hope your week improves. Sick kids are probably worse than being sick yourself.
OK that took. Let me try again.Paranormal Romance Shelf
Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready
Book Completed: 5/8/11
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Shade by Jeri-Smith Ready is a young adult novel set in the near future following a catastrophic event that completely changes the way the world is viewed. Anyone born after December 28th, 3:50 a.m. local Baltimore Maryland time is born with the ability to see ghosts. This event is known as the Shift. This singular event sets up a new environment in which post-shifters are needed to interact with the ghosts since the pre-shifters cannot see or hear them.. Aura is one of those born with that ability. She has always hated until having that ability until after her boyfriend Logan suddenly dies and she can see and speak with him.
This novel, although it has that paranormal twist, is really Aura and Logan’s love story. It has the tenderness of the movie “Ghost” and you can’t help hoping the duo will find a way to overcome their circumstances and have that happy ever after. Aura and Logan’s characters were interesting and multifaceted and I especially enjoyed Aura’s connection and sympathy for most of the ghosts she meets.
The subject matter was a bit intense I thought for a young adult novel. The drinking, drugs and sex would be recommended for more mature/older young adults. But in reality it is probably a realistic look at teen life. The sequel is Shift and it will definitely be on my “to read” list.
DO NOT PAY FOR
Not worth it! I am still laughing! I think it may be the cheesiest erotic book I have ever read. AND I PAID $14 for it! LOL! Sorry! Just sayin'!!

[book:Sh..." Good review Sherri, I'm planning on moving this book up on my TBR shelf. Good luck to you ladies!!!!
I finished This Side of the Grave and give it four stars. This book left me a little confused and made me decide I need to look and see if I have left a book out or perhaps Its a short story. Cat's best grind being a shapeshifter and marrying spade is what has me confused. Otherwise, I loved this book and the way the queen of ghouls came into it.
Nici, Frost's Night Huntress World book 1: First Drop of Crimson is Spade and Denise's story. The second one: Eternal Kiss of Darkness is Mencheres and Kira's story.
Oh, and that gives ya'll the 'vampires' stamp. So, I'll be back soon with your updated Bingo card. :) CONGRATS!
CONGRATULATIONS, Triple Threat! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'vampires'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Yay!!! Another stamp, good reading Team!Glad you enjoyed Shade, Sherri, it does sound intense.
Nici, you definitely need to read the 2 books Steph mentioned. So much more background info.
Just about to start my Bingo read
I'd already started Touched by an Alien when the shelf was announced, so I had to finish it then had to keep reading the next one, both 5 stars. If I wasn't so dedicated, LOL, I'd be reading the 3rd one right now.
Paranormal Romance Shelf 11/5/11 ★★★★
This is a great shifter first in series read. It has surprising emotional depth for such a quick read.
Libby Jamieson, a member of an elite govt force, has been missing for 3 years. Her team have been looking for her so they can kill her, as they think she betrayed them and one of their own died.
Jaxon Castille, jaguar shifter and head of the elite force, Libby's lover, especially wants her dead.
She turns up but without her memories and with evidence of 3 years worth of torture and a hint of dark magic. She also has a scar where her baby has been ripped from her body.
Who has been keeping Libby, and where? Is she friend or foe? Who is the father of her baby? And most importantly, who is trying to kill them all?
Looking forward to the next one.
You have such good self control Sandra, Now you can start back with book #3. LOL Happy reading to you (:
Don't I wish I could Amber, still got 4 more books to read before 16 May, then I'll be into it. LOL.
I gave this one ★★★★
I found this one a little slow to start, which was disappointing as I do love my tortured bad boys! Sigh... It did pick up a bit and I did like Elise, the ending gave it that little push to earn it's fourth star. It feels like this series is finally getting started and I'm looking forward to see where it goes now :)
Sorry it took so long my eldest was ill fri-sat then on Sun my 2 little ones took ill by Mon night it was my turn and my Hubby is still having his turn! It's been an exhausting few days.
I'm intrigued by your review Sandra, may have to look into that one!

Thanks Amber, I'll be happy when we get back to normal!
The end is nigh! Is it Saturday yet? lol
Sorry you've had such rotten luck Michelle, lets hope you've all got it out of your systems and it doesn't come back.
Ladies, we are half way to our next stamp, but we need you to finish your books this week so we are 4-in-a-row. Just in case Angels is called. Cause I think there may be another team who need Angels also. Then it would be a real race.
I finished
late last night (05/10/11). I'm giving it ★★★. It's my least favorite in the Immortals After Dark series so far. At the beginning, depending on who's point-of-view you were in, the verb tense would change from past (or whatever most books are written in) to present tense, which was very annoying. I get that it was done on purpose to convey that the hero was crazy, but it was still very grating. Then that different verb tense crap cleared up and we were ushered into a very long, boring section of no action and a lack of forward moving plot. Seriously, had this been the first Kresley Cole book I'd ever read, I'm not sure I would have continued. Only my absolute, undying love for the previous 3 books kept me going (and in all honesty, that love probably tacked on an extra ★). It did finally improve towards the end. One big plus (not sure if this is a spoiler so reader beware), a virgin hero! I love those, since they are soooo rare.
Oh yeah. I just remember another thing I didn't care for: the ghost heroine. I didn't much like it in Lover Unbound either. I just find it too implausible. Which I realize is a weird statement when I am talking about books with vampires and werewolves and valkyries. I'll definitely continue the series. I loved those first 3 books too much to be deterred by this one.
Amber wrote: "I said Dragons not Angels Sandra LOL :0)"ROFL! Much as I love Dragons, I think I'd prefer Angels this week. LOL
Blah, I don't have any angel book picked out so nah Dragons just have to be it.Fingers and toes crossed
I haven't got any angels books picked either. Will just have to wait and see what Mr R does this week.
It is going to be close, especially if it's angels. We must all be hoping for that although it will be sad to see this round end! I'll be signing up again though, if we go again :)
such a tease! LOL. I finished The Cursed One and i give it ★★★. I think i may be giving it low stars because I find myself asking about parts in the story that weren't in the previous books, which is what happened for the last book i read for Bingo. I need to go search and see if there is a short story out there about the half brother. In general though, i liked the story line.
Sorry, you're having such a hard time Nici. LOL. I haven't read RTs series, though I think I've got one of the books somewhere.Yay, hoping for Angels :)
