This area has fared better than others. Right now, the sun is actually out and it's almost a quarter to 8pm.

Sherri | 781 comments Our area is not as bad as the Kentucky and Tennessee area. We just have rain, although its stopped for now. Can't imagine what Christina and Sassy are going through, much worse down there the news is reporting. Stay safe ladies!!

Golf league starts tomorrow evening, so I'm sure it will rain then. ;-)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yay Nici!

I'm halfway through The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4) by Gena Showalter and am really enjoying it. Will have it finished today.

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments One Silent Night★★★★. I felt the book was a bit predictable. oh this power can kill this power and this power can kill this power but only these can kill these. I am not sure that i am explaining it right, but it seems really cut and dry. Also, Nick being the son of a certain sort of demon seemed a little too silly to me. However, these are what i found that i didn't enjoy of the book. I did like the book overall and will continue to read the series.

OMG! I met a woman whose daughter and 2 friends died in Alabama's tornados! She was hiding in a closet! She was 27. Soooo sad! And here I was complaining my kids were out of school because of flooded roads! Say a quick prayer for the 300 people & their families!

300 people died in Alabama's tornadoes this week!

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 494 comments I read the last Lara Adrians last book this week! I was good! Not part of the bingo, but I am excited to be done with another series for a month or so! haha!

Sandra | 25908 comments Yes, I heard that horrendous number this morning on the radio and I was shocked. They specifically mentioned Alabama as well as Tennessee.

All my thoughts to the families and survivors.

Wow, Amy, I'm keeping them in my thoughts. I am so out of touch on news. So sad, so much loss.

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments We weren't hit anywhere near as hard by the storms here in Arkansas. Several people have died here, but it's only dozens as opposed to hundreds.

On to happier things. I finished Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward on 04/27/11. I'm giving it ★★★★1/2 stars. It loses half a star for sheer annoyance at all the stupid, stupid slang. Seriously. It was too much. Other than that I really, really love the BDB world. I liked Jane a lot; she might be my favorite BDB heroine so far. V was ok, not my favorite hero, but not my least favorite either. I can't decide if I'm looking forward to the next book. I don't really like Cormia much. I'll read it, but I'm probably going to put it off for a while. Long enough to forget all the annoying-as-hell slang.

Sandra | 25908 comments The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4) by Gena Showalter
Favourite Series 29/4/11 ★★★★

Fourth book in the Lords of the Underworld saga. Our Lord this time around is Sabin, Demon of Doubt and his lucky lady is the Harpy, Gwen the Timid.

Now can you imagine what Doubt could do to a timid harpy? Luckily, Gwen can hear Doubt and knows that it isn't herself she's hearing. Gwen is only 27 yrs old and in immortal terms that's nothing, so everyone in her family treats her like a baby. Sabin, believes that everyone gets treated equally so he trains Gwen and she gains confidence and becomes a real harpy.

Of course the Hunters and Galen are after the Lords and various battles in Buda and Chicago ensue. There is one big surprise (view spoiler) that no one saw coming but otherwise it is business as usual.

Always so entertaining, looking forward to the next one.

Amanda A | 812 comments Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep
Finished 4/30
★★★★

I loved that more of Gin's past is revealed in this book and you get to see how she developed into "Spider". Now that she knows who killed her mother and sister, it will be interesting to see what she does about it. I liked Donovan Caine in the first book, but he was a real jerk in this one. I am kind of glad he made the decision he did at the end of the book. I can't wait to see what implications Owen will have on Gin's life. Looking forward to the next one!

message 786: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad you loved it Amanda, IMO they get better and better and I'm hanging out for #4 Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) by Jennifer Estep which is in the mail from BD.

All the usual characters are back in this one but Alexandra has added Imps and the Fae to the mix.

I enjoyed this one more than the last one, it was an interesting twist to the Morgana le Fay myth. This series just keeps getting better! :)

message 790: by Sherri (last edited May 02, 2011 09:59AM) (new)

Sherri | 781 comments Treachery in Death (In Death, #32) by J.D. Robb
Finished 5/1/11

★★★★½

Treachery in Death is a fast paced, thrilling and entertaining addition to the “In Death” series. Eve and team have to solve a case involving a unit of bad cops. We get to see Eve in more of a leadership role than we ever have and the dynamics between her and her team are fantastic. It is interesting to see how Eve has changed since “Naked in Death” and I can’t wait until the next book. There isn’t as much personal stuff going on in this one, definitely more of a crime procedure type story.

Favorite scene: There are a couple that stand out in my memory, but by far my favoirite is the one involving Mavis, baby Bella and Eve. The interaction between Eve and Bella is priceless.

The next book “New York to Dallas” is due out in September and I’m wondering how much of Eve’s childhood will be revealed in that book. Can’t wait!!

message 791: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Excellent picks Michelle & Sherri as you liked them both so much. I must start Ivy's series soon, got them all ready to go. LOL.

The In Death's are just fascinating to me, I've read about half the series so far and just love them. Glad #32 held up. :D

Sandra | 25908 comments And with that review Sherri, we have another Stamp!!! Yay!!!!

Please stamp us Mrs MSgt Steph!!!

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 494 comments OK! So EVERY book I can read starts a new series. Since I have several shifter series going now, this was hard. I was hoping to complete what I have started. OH WELL! Sooooo. I have picked I Thirst for You (Primes, #2) by Susan Sizemore just because of the mixed reviews. I am curious. Plus the author looks like someone I know, so I will never look at them the same after reading it. At least that's what I think!

I have been offline, we went to Beale Street Musicfest this weekend! If you are ever in Memphis Area, IT IS SO WORTH THE 3 DAYS!! (Bring a poncho & wear mud boots!

message 794: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Amy, sounds like you had a great time, mud and all!

Once again I've got this one, but haven't read it, so I'm interested to see what you think. I got the omnibus version with the first 3 books in it, so I'm hoping they're good. LOL.

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments I'm going to read As Shadows Fade (Gardella Vampire Chronicles, #5) by Colleen Gleason and finish up the series. OMG, can't wait to see how it ends.

Regarding the "In Death" series, I read up to 17 or so. At this point I've completely lost interest. I really enjoyed them all the way till the last one that I read, then I just couldn't do it anymore. I know that sounds weird, but I don't know how else to word it. LOL

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments @Crystal ~ I was the same way. Read them in a week back-to-back. Very rare for me, even more so b/c I don't normally like Historicals. But, loved that series. Enjoy!!
