Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments Phew - I almost thought that I couldn't continue with the Jaz Parks series but I found it!

I'm going with One More Bite

One More Bite (Jaz Parks, #5) by Jennifer Rardin

*nearly finished Bitten to Death!

message 705: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments Sorry for the delay this week - I have a heck of a schedule at the moment.
I have finished Bitten to Death (April 24th) and given in 3 stars - still light and fun, and an easy read. It is starting to feel a bit same-y but I enjoy the chance to switch off and just read for fun.

I'm going to continue with One More Bite straight away, though I have a family thing on tomorrow I should be able to get it done fairly quickly

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 494 comments good lord! this is a hard one! I am going through this entire list trying to find one!!

message 708: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 781 comments I'm going to read Treachery in Death (In Death, #32) by J.D. Robb .

I need a slight paranormal break and 1 very nice person had added this to the list (not that the other 30 books weren't on it). ;-)

message 709: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Great minds think alike! I was going for Loyalty in Death (In Death, #9) by J.D. Robb as I really want to read it this week and the other books I'm planning on reading through the week weren't on the shelf.

message 710: by Crystal S (new)

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments I'll be reading Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward .

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 494 comments HA! I was looking at the list and saw that I had forgotten to read one book out of this series. The Highlander's Touch (Highlander, #3) by Karen Marie Moning so this is it! woo hoo!

Sandra | 25908 comments Love the In Death books girls, great series. Lover Unbound is good too of course.

Amy I haven't read The Highlander's Touch, so I'll be interested in your review.

Sherri we need a quick review for Pale Demon.

Hope everyone had a great Easter :)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments I love that series Amanda, hope you like it!

I finished my book tonight. I'm giving Loyalty in Death (In Death, #9) by J.D. Robb ★★★★

I love the interactions between Eve & Roarke although in this one they were a little more serious than normal but it fit with the plot. I enjoyed meeting Peabody's brother and I was so happy to finally see progress in her relationship with McNab! :)

no way! I haven't even started yet! I went thru every page up to 30 something trying to find a book! I had KMMs Highlander series and forgot to read this one! It was hard picking. I am trying to go thru all the series I started, because I am having too much cross over! I have Terry Spears to finish, Lori Handeland, Hannah howell & Lara adrian. I am reading Lara adrians last book (so far). THEN my Highlander book.

Is JD Robb good? I have a bunch of her books, but if I have to go in order, I am not going there in forever... Amy

message 717: by Michelle (last edited Apr 25, 2011 03:34PM) (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments I haven't been reading them in order, mainly as they are mostly from the library and with so many of them it's hard to get them in order. I'm going back now and trying to get the ones I've missed.

I would say they are good, I much prefer JD Robb to Nora Roberts even though they are the same person!
In the first book, Naked in Death, we meet Homicide Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas. In the course of her investigation she meets Roarke who she is majorly attracted to but not entirely sure she can trust him. It goes back and forth a bit in the is he a suspect or is he innocent? Their relationship moves pretty rapidly but the dialogue & interactions between them makes the books. She is a tough as nails cop & he's a self made billionaire from the wrong side of the law, who has his fingers in everything! They are set in the future in New York, people have droid's to do housework, video link communicator's etc but it's not too far fetched as far as the technology side of it goes!

I completely understand why you are a little apprehensive about starting them especially with it being so long but as yet I haven't met anybody who doesn't love them or Roarke. I wouldn't class him as Top 10... but probably Top 20 :)

I struggled to find a book for this one too, I checked all my library books and a pile my friend Carlyn lent me and none of them where on the list! I knew I needed to read a book by a Maryland author for another challenge so when I found this one I jumped for joy!
I have a couple of Lori's books still to buy. How are you liking them? I'm also trying to get up-to-date with some of my ongoing series, I hate having too many on the go at once :)

I'm going to grab some dinner and I'll be back to update. :-)

Amy, I read the In Deaths from the library too, so, not in order. I really don't think it matters that much, love them anyway I can get them.

I do like Lora adrians books. They are more sci-fi than paranormal I think. If I had not started with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters to her Sci-fi Books, I don't know that I would have liked them. Now, I go back and forth from both.

Lori Handeland is another one ou have to be prepared for. The paranormals are the bad guys with her. If you aren't prepared, you wonder the whole time.

Our Library is terrible, because I am outside the county. We can't borrow across lines without paying, so I buy all my books at our thrift stores or flea market for $1 a piece - same cost to borrow! Then, I resell them and get my $$ back. Kind of a cool racket I have going. LOL! Filler books I am missing, that I am too antsy for I do buy from Barnes & Noble though.

Thanks for the insight on the JD Robb books. I started to get them, but then I stopped because no one could tell me anything. They are everywhere here, so it's easy pickings! Maybe I will continue.

If you can pick up JD Robb, go for it. You won't be sorry. :D

Ummmm... Mine was pretty mad tonight, trying to walk through the room to put his suitcase away after a golf trip. He had to step over boxes and boxes trying to get to the attic. (I have to sort my series). He said I had a problem and did I know it. I said I didn't because I read them, and then sell them. I would have a problem if they never moved. LOL!

I rotated them, and stacked them, so now it's not so bad. My problem is duplicates that erase themselves from goodreads. I check my list, but sometimes it says I don't have it, and I come home and I do. Same for thinking I have read them all, and have missed a book.

That's true, except I'd say read the first one first then the order of the rest doesn't matter.

I so can't wait for Tangled Threads. It's out on kindle today here but it's a series I have in print so with the bank holidays it'll be at least a week maybe two before it gets here! :(

i enjoyed this book a lot. it was able to fill me in on some side stories of series i have or am reading. HOwever, i haven't read any of the book in the second stories series so i felt extremly confused and didn't feel like the author wrote this with an anthology in mind, where someone would not have any idea of their story. Inked ★★★★

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Sandra wrote: "Michelle, BD is saying it shipped my copy 26/4 so we'll see how long it takes to get here. LOL."

At least your's has been shipped, I just checked mine and they are estimating it to be posted on the 3rd May! I'm not a happy bunny :(
Although I did discover that BD are shipping out Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh on May 31st. Amazon aren't doing the hardcover 'til August and paperback has been postponed 'til November... It's only an extra £3 too :)

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 494 comments OK! I finished my book The Highlander's Touch (Highlander, #3) by Karen Marie Moning and I give it ★★★★ . Although I never liked Adam Black, and OBVIOUSLY I read these books out of order, I found this pretty good. I recognized the name Circen from previous books, so I knew the relationship he had with Adam Black. I always wondered why he didn't get his own book, and DUHHH! he did, I just accidently skipped it.

So, a girl(LISA) with a dying mother, has 2 jobs to take care of her. One is a cleaning job in a museum. She touches an item, and is sucked back in time to the Highlander who put the binding curse on it.

Lisa wants to go back to her mom and be with her when she dies, so she doesn't die alone. They get suckered into being handfasted through a lie told by Circen, and end up happy with the idea. Twists happen, she gets to go back to her century and Circen and she gets to choose to stay or go. Ends happy.

This book seemed out of place from all the other books. The "Douglas'" are there & are truly lusty. Tupping all the maids. LOL!

I miss them! After I read one of the books, I always feel sad that her highlanders are over ~ KMM said so. I wish the one I missed did not have Adam Black in it, but oh well. He isn't bad, I just did not like him like I did the others!

OH! I got nothing done today because I read the book all day!

Oops I mean One More Bite (Jaz Parks #5) - sorry I confused myself reading them one after another.

message 737: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments @ Michelle, Yay, Kiss of Snow I've got that coming from BD also. I caved and bought the hc.

@ Nici - I had a look at the blurb for Inked & realised I'd read books from all the series listed except KCs. Did they seem any good to you, despite not knowing the worlds or did they seem like fillers?

@ Amy - glad you like the Highlander, must admit I've only read the 1st one. Must get back to that series as I've got a few of the books tbr.

@ Shelleyrae - was sure you meant #5 but thought I'd better check. LOL.

Sherri | 781 comments Here is my Pale Demon Review. Hoping I can post before I lose power. We have tornado warning out tonight.

Pale Demon (The Hollows #9) by Kim Harrison
Finished 4/23/11

★★★★★

This is by far my most favorite UF series. The writing is crisp and fast paced, the characters are multi dimensional and the relationships between those characters are what make this series shine. I'm not even going to say anything about the plot, with the exception that I never know what to expect from Ms. Harrison, but she always makes it work and it is a joy to read this series.

BTW - I found out she is a fellow Michigander (born and living in good ole Michigan, USA) so how could I not squee about her. :-)

Night all, I'm logging out.
