R2 TEAM THREAD: Team #3 Triple Threat [SECOND PLACE]

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't crazy about the first in the trilogy, The Summoning, and hone..."
The third book is the best! I even wrote right after I read it and asked for more. It was right after the third book came out. She wrote back and said "No, read the Bitten series" and wrote back a few monthes after that and said she was adding another book. The last one (3rd) was so open ended, it needed more! It was a trilogy, but I guess the fourth may be an addition, or a slight branch to a new series?? I don't know. I'm kind of afraid.

I must admit that I would read more of Clay & Elena if I could get hold of the books at the library, but that's all I'm admitting to. :D

Eternal Rider is an exciting new entry from Larissa Ione. Those of us that mourned the loss of the Demonica series can rejoice! Ms. Ione brings the expert world building, terrific characters and the deep personal relationships that she developed in the in the Demonica series to these books.
Cara Thornhart is a holistic animal healer who answers her door one night to treat an injured animal. That event will change her life. Ares has lived thousands of lifetimes. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he and his siblings are immortal and each must face the eventuality that they may be the destroyer(s) of mankind.
Ares arrives at Cara's door tracking something that he must get back or face the possibility of turning evil and dooming the world. When the object is not there, he involves himself into her life with the hope that he can retrieve the object, which appears to have tied itself to Cara. Unfortunately, Cara becomes even more entangled in Ares fate and he is faced with protecting and losing that which is most important to him.
Ares and Cara’s relationship develops fairly quickly. Cara is faced with a life altering event that forces her to address and accept her attraction to Ares and he faces the possibility of becoming his worst nightmare. They jump into their relationship, which is hot and steamy, but appears realistic to me.
All of the characters are wonderful in this book, even the secondary ones. The witty banter and dialog keeps this dark novel from becoming too dark. My favorite secondary character is Thanatos. I loved his dry wit and can’t wait for his book. Although, Hal the demonhound with halitosis, is a close second favorite character.
As Ares, Cara, Thanatos, Limos and Hal race toward saving the world, the action is fast paced and tense. The battle(s) between the siblings and their brother Reseph, who has turned evil and become Pestilence, is sometimes violent but heartfelt at the same time.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book to all the paranormal romance readers that enjoy a bit of urban fantasy and sexual dominance thrown in. Highly recommended if you enjoyed the Demonica series previously.

Great review. Love "the demonhound with halitosis" LOL!

No worries Amanda :)
Steph has said new shelf will probably be announced tonight our time, so in the next few hours. So keep checking :D

I wasn't too keen on Bitten, I have Broken too and I've tried twice to read it but each time I've had to put it down and I just can't. I hate not finishing books either!
I asked Larissa where I could sign up for my own Hellhound pup! I think everyone's loving Hal :) Glad you enjoyed it Sherri.
The Mortal Instruments squicked me... I read the first 2 and I didn't even rate the second one, my friend Carlyn felt the same way too. A lot of people love them though.

This was another action packed installment in the Night Huntress series. Cat and Bones are entertaining, as always, even as they face threats that secrets from Cat's past pose to their relationship. I really liked that more background details are divulged about some of the secondary characters (Spade, Vlad, Mencheres) and hope to learn even more about them in future books and the spin-off series. I might read the spin-off series before moving on to #5 after seeing some of the lower ratings/reviews for it. I still love this series though and hope the author keeps the books coming!

Interesting, Steph said we'd get the shelf early, maybe her computer problems have resurfaced.

And the one you've been waiting for...
I'm giving

Not as good as the first installment but still enjoyable. I was slightly disappointed there wasn't more too her undercover job. I'm going to stick with these though as I do enjoy Jaz :) And I really want to know what happens next with Vayl!

But I haven't read any more of them and probably won't just because I'd have to buy them cause my library has no Kelley Armstrongs. And I'm not willing to spend money when I disliked the 1st one so much.
But I'm glad the YA one turned out so well. :)
