Both of which I have in April challenges. So whichever one I pick up first.
Sandra wrote: "No worries Michelle, have you been to the zoo yet? If so, hope you had fun."We are still here. Hubby has the boys on the pirate ship and I'm keeping our place for the penguin walk, the little one is out cold! It's been a lovely day :)
That does look good! I do like fallen angels :)I'll be reading
I was planning on reading this so it fits in nicely!
We went to Edinburgh Zoo. It's the only one we have. Lot's of hills so the kids are pretty knackered. :)
I'll be reading
for my Urban Fantasy read.I've finished The Darkest Kiss. I'm going to grab something to eat and then I'll post my review.
Great picks, Ladies! Shelleyrae, I'll be looking forward to your review of Highborn. I've got that one TBR also. Hope you enjoy Clay & Elena, Amy. And, Sherri, I'm jealous! I can't wait to start that one. {Team Stats Updated}

The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter - ★★★★
Finished: April 9, 2011
Amun and Haidee are wonderful characters. Amun is the strong, alpha male character with a touch of gentleness and caring that is ever so sexy. Haidee has been dealt a rough hand, but is strong, loyal and also caring for all she has suffered. Together these two just instantaneously click as a couple. But of course there are past grievances that have to be resolved and an evil presence to banish.
My favorite part of the story though is the adventures of Paris, William and Strider’s on their “vacation from hell.” William is getting ready to pack for the trip and here is what he plans to pack.
“William untucked the covers and stood, making a mental list of everything he’d need for the coming trip. A few blades, serrated and nonserrated. A vial of acid. A bone saw. A spiked paddle. A cat-o-nine-tails. And a bag of Gummy Bears.”
The secondary characters were just way too much fun. Can’t wait for their books.
Love this series Sherri, I'm not reading the review, I'm not up to this one yet. LOL.YAY!!!!! We're up for another Stamp!
i finished River Marked★★★★★. One of the things that i hated about this book was that it ended. LOL. Its hard when you get so into a series and then have to wait and wait for the next one. I loved that Mercy learned a little bit more about her native american heritage in this book, and that it feels like in future books she will learn more. I also really enjoyed meeting Coyote and that ultimately he ended up with the walking stick.
I think I've caught up with everyone's choices & reads. Please let me know if I've missed anyone. {Team Stats Updated}
I also think ya'll are due a 'demons' stamp. So, I'll be right back w/your updated bingo card! :D
CONGRATULATIONS, Triple Threat! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'demons'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
I've finished Highborn today - April 12th, and give it four stars - it has a great premise, a bit of an edge and Brynna is a little different from the usual UF heroines. A great start to a new series!
I am sorry! It is taking me forever to read this book. I am a 2-3 day max reader! My dad fell and hit his head on a boat while deep sea fishing in Cabo... Mexico, at thanksgiving. He ended up dying from a brain bleed. He was only 60. My point there is the tragidy of no warning.
Anyway, my mom is out visiting, and she demands so much attention. She went a little loopy. She was to start with, but my dad kept her in check. NOW... holy cow! She wakes up at 5 am and won't go to bed until midnight! It is a long story about her weirdness. She has had it forever.
I read at length twice. Once, when my sister got custody, and once while she took one of my dsughters to get her passport because they are going to Spain.
???Really??? I had no idea they were even going?? Hmm when??? AHHHH! If anyone needs a neurotic mother in their story, I will describe my mom to you.
She is on an overnight trip to Nashville, and when she left, she just said "Oh I gotta go!" and SERIOUSLY ran out of my house! She was under no time constraint?? My daughter just looked at me and shook her head. As the door slammed behind her we both said "see ya!" AHHHH!
Sorry! I did not mean to make this soo long, but I can't enjoy my book as much as I would if I didn't have to put it down after every page! So I am venting to readers who know what not being able to read feels like! AHHHHHHHHH!
Go ahead and vent Sassy. Sounds like you deserve it.I'm done with Eternal Rider. I'm giving it 5 stars. I'll post my review tomorrow. I'm heading to bed, too tired.
Amy, no worries. Very sorry about your Dad, and sorry that your neurotic mother is interferring with your reading pleasure.I'm not reading my book as fast as I'd like either. I know lots of people love Downside Ghosts, but I'm just not one of them. The underlying story is good, but I just don't like the characters. 126 pages to go.
Glad you loved your book Sherri, have a nice night.
Amy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Hang in there, hun. We definitely feel your pain - having no time to read when you want to is frustrating.Glad you enjoyed ER, Sherri. Looking forward to it myself.
:\ Sorry, Sandra. Yeah, that's a difficult series to judge. Definitely can understand.
ok... I finished...
4/13/11. I give it ★★★★. Hmmm. I had a problem getting through all the details, because I thought eventually they would be important. They weren't. I think 75 pages of background fluff on people who did not really matter was... waisted. Keep in mind, I couldn't really get into the book either. I will continue reading this series. Unless of course, the major fluff continues. Sooo. to review. she's a werewolf living with a boring guy. gets called away to her pack in New York. Some other criminal weres are killing her pack members, and she has to deal with her ex-fiance. She of course still loves him. Not a spoiler, it's easy to guess right off the bat. Every criminal & pack member gets atleast 3 pages of background. Later more. That got old.
For some reason, I really liked her YA books better. Less fluff to keep a teen enthralled?? I dunno. She's still a good author, and satys true, so it got a 4 stars.
Now, I am off to pick a totally cheesy book to melt my brain. Maybe Lora Leigh. haha. I'll make my mom read one! Hahaha!
:D Hope you enjoy whatever you pick, Amy. Glad you enjoyed Bitten. Love Clay & Elena, well, any of her shifters, in that series. Frustrating when we get a bunch of books in a row with other Others. LOL! Another Savannah book next, then hopin' for more shifters.
I finished my book a few minutes ago.
(04/14/11) ★★★★★ I really enjoyed it. I wasn't crazy about the first in the trilogy, The Summoning, and honestly, if that hadn't ended in a cliffhanger I probably wouldn't have bothered picking this one up. But, The Awakening was much better. It was action packed and the plot moved forward better than in the previous book.
Like Sassy, I prefer Armstrong's YA books. I read Bitten a few months back and while I enjoyed it, I didn't enjoy it enough to want to read any more in that series. This series, though, I can't wait to read the next one.
I haven't finished this series though I only have The Awakening to go. I didn't read Bitten until I had read books 3,4,5 because I couldn't get my hands on it and I thought Bitten was the weakest of them. I've read up to the last two and have liked them all, so don't write the whole series off on that :)
Urban Fantasy 15/4/11 ★★★★
Book #2 in the Downside Ghosts series, and once again we have Chess, the drug addict magic using Churchwitch. This time she's being blackmailed by everyone but the church and they are just using her.
Ms Kane writes a very involved exciting plot and very interesting characters, but I can faithfully say I don't like any of them except for Terrible. Terrible tells Chess his feelings for her and she is so f*
We get a few hints as to why Chess is a druggie and learn more background information about everyone around her and yet she is still an unlikable character.
I've given this book 4 stars for the quality of the plot but I will probably never read it again. And to me a good book is one I can read over and over again.
