I would be too. I've never had more than one of these to read at a time, but if I did .... I'd plow through them. :) Hubby did that and LOVED them. We'll be fightin' over who gets to read Magic Slays first. LOL! Nah, he'll beg a bit, but I read faster than him now, so ME FIRST! ;)
I give :
★★★★I finished it 4/01/11.
It was really good and opened up for a few new characters. This one had a lot going on for the whole book. There was no rest period.I can't really tell what it was about, and the best parts, because that would be spoiler like.
The Jinn has to save a baby frozen in a stasis spell that keeps the baby sleeping and the same age for 50 years. The baby is destined to be the host for the "really bad guy". The charon helps her. woo hoo. It wasn't my favorite, so it only got a 4 star.

Thanks, Sandra. Ours is usually in March but it was late this year. Glad you enjoyed Kate, the books get better from the next one! :) I'm so excited about the next one.
I read
today for the demons shelf and damn it was good! I'm giving this one ★★★★★ Kara Gillian is a homicide detective who can sense the "Arcane" and summon demons. Each book has a stand alone murder case with paranormal elements. Slightly darker UF than most but it's a believable world and you can't help but feel for Kara. The paranormal isn't a widely known fact so she has grown up keeping her distance from people on the whole due to her 'weirdness'. As each book progresses we get to see more insight into her and the circumstances that make her who she is. I'm full of questions and need the next book like... NOW! There's so much going on with the other charcter's and people who you just don't know which side they are on. I love it when you can't figure out a who-dunnit right away. I must admit that the stories are starting to take second place to the characters in this one.
:) I feel all energised now... What an ending! :)

LOL!
is available on kindle, I paid about 70p for it. It has 3 scenes written by Ilona's Hubby and they are all from Curran's point of view. If you wondered what was going through his head during the 'soup' scene... the answer is right here! :)
Thanks for that Michelle, yep, I've got Curran, I'm reading the appropriate bits in line with the books. So yummy ....
Sandra wrote: "Thanks for that Michelle, yep, I've got Curran, I'm reading the appropriate bits in line with the books. So yummy ...."You're making me want to re-read the books now! :)
I'm going to wait a few days cause I need to read some library books this week so I can return them. I have reserved
I realised I still hadn't read
when I read your review. It's been sitting there for well over a year. I might give myself a re-read week sometime soon... or at least a couple of days! It never happens though does it? We always find something new that takes precedence :)
Weelll, I'm an inveterate re-reader, if I like it, I re-read it. Especially if it becomes a comfort read. That's probably why I've got well over 1,000 on my tbr shelf, most of which I own. I should do the opposite and stop re-reading. LOL.

I pick up my favourite's now and again but it's trying to find the time to read a whole series I hate. How do I fit 16 Stephanie Plum books plus the between the numbers ones? Don't get me wrong I've still read the series at least 5 times... since Eleven on Top came out. I used to re-read a series prior to a new release but now with a lot of the series hitting double figures and often coming out at the same time... I'm struggling!
Last week I bought
that would have been 19 books if I re-read the series prior. Before I had the kids that was do-able in about 6 days... Maybe I'm really just missing my reading freedom! I think I'm getting Cabin Fever... 10 months off work but I go back next week. I'm hoping my sanity returns! :)
Ok... I was reading a book...really? I looked at the cover because it had a uy with long hair, and the guy in this book has cropped hair...hmmm. So we grow up hearing "don't judge a book by the cover", but the cover does matter. I have Christine feehans Carpathian books, and the early ones have the old cheesy covers
When I read this book with this cover, I didn't like it as much as the newer covered books. It seemed cheesy. Do any of you get bothered by covers. I am very OCD with cotradiction. Very. Sorry. If someone is described, and there is a picture of them supposedly, it should look like them. Don't have a brunette on the cover if they are blond.
The best covers I think is when there are tonal bodies. Meaning, cover is all blue with sillhouettes of blue people. tone on tone. vague pictures. It leaves more for me to envision. It's better than picturing Fabio as every male character in a book.
Who picks the covers anyway?
I would say that the authors do not pick the covers. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many cover contradictions between the dude/tte pictured and the author's descriptions of the character(s). But, then I see author's posting on their blogs about their cover shots, making me think they have a hand in it (or some). Dunno.
Most authors always lament that they have no input at all re their covers. But when they praise them to the skies that is all to do with the marketing. Besides they know that there isn't anything they can do about it.But you're right Amy, I like the cover to match the story.

Hope Adams, a tabloid reporter and half chaos demon, was first introduced in No Humans Involved where the Cortez cabal helped her out of a jam and now she is indebted to them. Benicio Cortez, the head of the cabal, is calling in her favor as he asks her to infiltrate a gang of sorcerers causing trouble in his Miami jurisdiction. When she runs into trouble, Lucas Cortez and his wife, Paige, come to her aid as well as Karl Marsten, a werewolf jewel thief Hope had hooked up with in the past.
I enjoyed the interactions between Hope and Karl and would like to see more of them in future books. Lucas and Paige are two of my favorite characters in this series and I am curious to see what happens next with them. It appears Lucas will have some tough decisions to make in the near future regarding his involvement with his family's cabal.
Hooray, Amanda!!! Yay!!Glad you liked it Amanda, its always good when favourites pop up in the new book.
i finished Heart of Darknesstoday. I always write short reviews because i don't want to do a summery of the book, those are easy to find. So today i am going to try to really do better though. This book has three stories in it. I absolutely loved The darkest angel by Gena Showalter. Part of the reason i loved it so much is because i had just read the fifth book in the lords of the underworld series and Heart of darkness contained 4.5. I felt like reading it defiantly filled in some gaps for me. The part i didn't love about it was how easily the angel and the harpy fell in love. Really? Lock me up and i love you? Because even when she was mad you could tell she was very into the angel.
The next story was love me to death by maggie shayne. I was pleasantly surprised when i read this book because it wasn't about vampires. The reason this surprised me was because the majority of books that i have read by her were about vamps. I loved them all, but its nice to read other things sometimes. I found the reincarnation part to be believable, at least so much as one would find in a short story. It wasn't just yep i am the reincarnation of so and so and every one just falls in line.
The third story was Lady of the Nile. This story just didn't do it for me at all. I almost didn't finish it because it was boring lol. I really like stories that take place in the past, so that wasn't why. Maybe just the authors style of writing?
Overall, i would have to say that i enjoyed reading these stories and would recommend the book.★★★
Great review Nici! I've read Darkest Angel and it was OK for me but I agree about how easily the angel & harpy got together, but what do you expect really in a short story. Still it felt rushed.Haven't read the others so I'll take your word for it. I seem to remember Steph had a hard time with another SK book so I'm not surprised you didn't like it.
No need to crack the whip at me. I finally (finally! It was sooo long) finished
earlier today (04/07/11). I'm giving it ★★★ . It was very much just ok. I was a bit bored, although it improved a lot in the last half. I will probably read the sequels since I already have them, but I am not going to be in any hurry. I'm wondering if I would have enjoyed this more if I didn't just finish reading the totally mind-blowing Hunger Games trilogy? Hmmmm. Just a thought.
LOL, Crystal! Sorry you didn't enjoy City of Bones, your Hunger Games thought might be right, as I thought most seemed to enjoy this series. I haven't read them so I'm not sure. Probably a good idea to give them a rest and come back to them.
I'm so far behind this week. Work has been a nightmare. I'll have my demon book done tomorrow. I'm doing the Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon and that is tomorrow. So I'll get plenty of reading done this weekend. :-)
Sandra wrote: "With Crystal's review we've now caught up to Team 4ce! Keep up the good work."LOL! :p
Have fun w/the read-a-thon, Sherri.
That's impressive Sherri :)Don't forget to check in at Goodreads, cause Steph might post the next shelf and you could get a head start on the next one as well.
Sorry work has been a nightmare, I'm sure we can all relate to that!
I'm taking the kids to the zoo tomorrow so I might be a little late checking in. I'm off to finish Eternal Rider so I can pick a book and get reading. :)
I'm finished with Biting the Bullet April 8th - 3 and 1/2 stars. These books are like a palate cleanser - light and fun I can just read and enjoy instead of thinking too much :)
Eeek! That just leaves ya'll with one more till your 'demons' stamp. WTG, T³!Have fun at the zoo, Michelle. I love 'um!
Another early announcement ... Just 'cuz!
