I'm Sherri, I live in Ypsilanti, Michigan which is just next door to Ann Arbor, where that university in maize and blue is. I'm 46, addicted to reading paranormals, romance, UF and every once in a while a cozy mystery. I have too many books to count and am trying desperately to rid myself of them. ;-D I play ice hockey in my spare time when I am not reading or working.

Everyone probably already knows I'm from Australia, Sydney, home of the 2000 Olympics. That was a great party. I'm 51 and been a reader all my life. Married with no kiddies but lots of nieces & nephews & 1 new great nephew.
Well, alrighty then. I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas in the US. I live with my dog, Oliver. I'm a medical technologist, or a medical laboratory scientist (the professional terminology is changing). I run tests on blood, urine and other body fluids (yes, including poo) in a hospital lab. No one I know actually reads as much as I do and certainly no one reads the same kinds of books I do (primarily historical romance, erotica, PNR, UF, & YA paranormals). But most of you on Goodreads put me to shame. I just can't keep up! LOL

ok. I was really brief earlier because I was on my way out. So here goes. My name is Amy, since there are some others on here, I just used a different name. so be it.
I just turned 40, but my 8 y/o boy thinks I am 30, because it finally occurred to him that you gain a year on your birthday. Sooo unfortunately, I could not stay 29 any longer.
I used to read all the time, but boy babies kill that. so I have not read for 7 years, and last easter, I started to read again.
I scope out what everyone is reading, to find new authors to add to my list I carry. I buy tons of books from thrift stores, after $500 at B&N. What a revelation that was! All my to read books are books I have found at the thrift store. I do not belong to a book group, and all my friends think I am crazy reading as fast as I do.
I love good wine, good chocolate (bliss), and great coffee... all are even better with a good book!

Well, so far it's looking like Triple Threat for the name. 4 votes if we include Shelleyrae, cause she coined it so I'm presuming she liked it too. LOL.What's everybody else think? If I don't hear anything to the contrary by Saturday noon (10 hours from now) I'll be making an executive decision :)
Triple Threat works for me. I'm off to a doctor appointment, then work. Such a fun day. I can hardly contain myself.
I like Triple Threat too. Now a little about me. There's not really much to tell, though. I live in South Carolina and work full time as an accountant. I am a licensed CPA, but I do not do taxes (except my own and family members that guilt me into doing theirs too). I'm 30, single and have one furbaby who is in my profile pic. She's a Yorkie named Bella and no, not because of Twilight. :-) I have five young nieces and nephews that I spoil rotten at every chance. I also read way too much, according to my family. My other hobbies include camping, spending time with my family and friends, and I have been trying to learn to crochet but I don't have the hang of it yet. I can't wait for the game to start back up again!

ok... looking at the list, I am in a panic of basics. without the fluff, do i read 5 types of books in a row on the bingo card, or does someone tell me what to read, and we see if we get a bingo?? Uh OH! I am rereading what I have to do so I don't muck this up.

In regards to the goodreads app - I haven't used it, I do go on goodreads on my phone (usually during the night like now!) but I haven't used the app. If you try it let us know how you like it :)
Quick question to those of you who played before - Are the shelves announced around a certain time or will we be hounding the board looking for it every 5 mins throughout the day?

I don't like the app. It's harder to surf through. I use safari and go through that to goodreads.com. I can organize my searches better if I have the whole webpage. I have it on my iphone and ipad. I take them with me so i can look up ratings and see if I already own the book. I will tell you that I have a certain book i forget I already own and have 4 of the same book... stupid me.

That's not stupid Sassy, I've done it myself! I used to have to carry a notepad with all my books written in it to stop me from doing that prior to having this phone! I do still have hundreds of books to add to my account but it's series or authors that I want to try but I'm trying to get up to date with my current ones before adding them to my physical tbr!
Thanks for your opinion on the app. I use the main site on my phone too, I purposefully ignore the mobile addition link at the top as I don't want to lose any features of the site! I have all my bookmarks set for this thread now I'm getting excited... well I would be if I wasn't yawning my head off! Night all :)

Regarding when the shelves are announced. From memory Steph usually announces them Sunday mid morning Japan time. But if everyone is finished a shelf she occasionally will announce them on Saturday (of course, in R1 it was a 2 wk turnaround and now its only 1 wk).
Sassy all you have to do is read a book on the shelf that is announced each week. Also sometime over the course of the game you also have to read a Freespace book. R1 people read the Freespace book fairly early on, as the Freespace controls the middle of each Bingo card.
Each team's Bingo card is different, just like in a real game of Bingo so that is why it is a fun game. You never know who will win.
