This one had a Giver (by Lois Lowry) type feel to it. Somewhere in the future society now decides who can marry who and what job you can hold. When Cassia is matched with her best friend, Xander, she thinks she's the luckiest girl in the world. Her happiness, however, is later cluttered with confusion when the microcard which contains information about her match changes from Xander's photo to Ky's. Even though she's told there was an error with her card and Xander is her match it sets off a whole lot of questions about how perfect the matching program is. When Ky and Cassia are paired together in extra curricular activity she finds herself wondering if maybe Ky really is her perfect match. She has been told he will never be paired with anyone because he's a Abberation - a person who has committed (or a relative has committed) some infraction of the law and has been deemed unmatchable.
I read Matched a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I can not give any specifics because I cannot remember many. I do remember the pill compacts though and how it was a huge deal when one went missing. I also remember thinking throughout the novel, "Thank you so much that our "match" is not picked for us today. However, it might not be long before it is!"
