Rajiv This books cover looks pretty creepy but when i read this book it was never scary to me.

Pandora I don't know how old you are but, the book is meant for children under twelve. It was written to be an alterntive to Goosebumps and on that score it works very well. It has horror elements but, it is also written well and tells a good story. Vampire Mountain is also part of the Cirque Du Freak series in which some parts are better than others. If you were a children's libarian you would appreciate this book.

The author is working on a young adult series Demonata which based on the first book is more guresome than Cirque Du Freak. If you find Darren Shan to tame you might try Neal Shusterman. Robert Cormier although not horror can also tie your emtions up into a pretzel.

Yasmin I found the other books in the series to be scarier than this one, Vampire Mountain was just informative.

Pandora It might have been that. I just remember the whole series being worthwhile and I'm thankful that someone else wrote for young horror fans beside R.L. Stein. I read a lot and at times it is hard to remember exactly what happen in one book especially one in a series. Has anyone read Eight Grade Bites or Nineth Grade Slays. That series seems to be ripping off the Cirque Du Freak stories.

Liam Weston It's not scary. It is one of the the best books I have ever read. Every one who reads it has to finish the series.

April Sanchez It not scary at all !!

April Sanchez I read all of the series.

Quicksilver i have read the series but i think it is more on the edge of your seat then scary.

Brey Quicksilver wrote: "i have read the series but i think it is more on the edge of your seat then scary."

I agree. It just wanted to hold you attention.

Adam It was sort of scary, but more seat gripping, "have to turn the page."

Rebecca it wasn't scary, just a fun read, makes you have to keep readong and wanting more.

Rebecca loved the whole serries, although none were as good after Mr.Crepsley died

Rebecca I don't think it was written to be a horror story

Sophia Not scary, but filled with some nasty (as in gross) elements and great tension and intensity.

Nope

Jaye Latts I didn't find them scary (I'm an adult, but a fraidy-cat!), but I do find them rather intense. I like them and can't wait to finish the series.

Alex you are all women if you think they are scary! WOMAN!

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I read the whole series and I was never scared. Some parts were creepy but not like, "AHHH! I CAN'T CONTINUE READING I'M SO FREAKED OUT!" kind of creepy. Just a litte, "woah, that was weird"

On the other hand. One of my friends read the first book and was to creeped out to go on so...I guess it depends on how easily scared you are.

Madison Sheyenne it wasn't creepy and i'm 12. but the movie was horrible i was suprised they even got the names right

April Sanchez not they called Darren last name Shae.

April Sanchez there NOT SCARING AT ALL

Vixen it was supposed to be scary O_o

April Sanchez well it not I like the book really much

message 24: by Quy (new)

Quy I think that this book is really scary at all. I think it's more of an adventure type of book. It first it might seem scary because they have the vampire and sucking blood and stuff. But after reading more about the book you see that it's just a story about the life of a human who becomes a vampire.

Adonis Dillahunty I find the book more of an journey/adventure than to be scary. The sucking of blood and killings are gruesome, not scary. From reading the series, you get use to all of this and it becomes normal throughout the series.

message 26: by Omar (new) - rated it 4 stars

Omar This book is not so scary, it is more intense and adventurous rather than scary. The only things that could maybe be scary is the dead vampires found and the danger and mystery of who killed the vampires. But over all, no it is not scary.

Morgan The books were amazing but the movie was very disappointing

April Sanchez I have to agree with Adionis and Omar it not scary.

Ella Rose Brunton The book was written to be more fantasy than scary. It had a lot more comedic moments than scary.
