Why authors go 'indie', and why the standard varies

Things could be worse, Pete -- I waited while a small press in OR was supposedly in final stages on my title and when the small press got swallowed by a Larger Fish publisher, the buyer dumped ten or so pending titles
including mine.

So just think, you missed going back to square one in that way or had a shorter trip anyway. My title landed with a different small press (see below).

@Lynne - we had a long talk about that. She was directly involved in creating the "strategic plan" that involves more than just SP this novel, and she will be involved in the marketing of the novel too. That said, we had a strong discussion about commission - I said I would pay it and she refused to accept it. We reached a compromise.
