Jacob remained silent, glaring at Pyro for a moment. "There's nothing to tell her," he finally said.

Pyro sighed. "Fine, Jacob. Its just kinda sad that you hide it so much. I mean, I know erasers are stubborn blockheaded idiots, but, come on, really?"

Stella followed Scarlett's gaze to the ground. She watched the miniature people below hurrying down the sidewalk, crossing the street, walking into buildings. So perfectly ignorant to the completely different world Stella had been forced into. Poor them, she repeated in her mind. Were they really that poor compared to the two of them?
Stella thought back to the boy in the burger restaurant and his perverted view of problems, then to the people in the office with seemingly simple lifestyles. Then to them, flying freely through the cool air with no place to call home, no limits, no identities.
"Yeah," she agreed with a small smile. "Poor them."
((... Y'all post too much. :P))

"They are," he muttered, glancing down at the unconcious Savita.

As they left more buildings behind, they seemed to grow bigger and taller. "We must be getting close to the north end," Scarlett stated, angling herself upward in order to stay above the windows.
The rich end.
From what she could see, money definitely flowed towards this are of Chicago. The skyscrapers were far more regal compared to those they left behind. She half expected to see gargoyles sitting on the ledge of some buildings.

"Hmm," Stella said, but she had now turned her attention to the lake at the right of them -- which one it was, she always forgot. With their high altitude, as well as her hawk-like vision, she could just see the land on the other side. A swim sounds good right about now, she thought, but turned her eyes away. She needed to focus on her primary goal: getting out of Chicago.
Suddenly, Stella felt as if they were being watched. She had had this feeling before (her sixth sense had been defined as a result of paranoia, of course), but not as strongly as this. She slowly pulled out her gun, then spun around, ready for attack, stopping completely... but no one was there.

Scarlett stopped too, and gave Stella a questioning look. "Where'd you get a gun?" The question was casual, light-hearted. Of course, she knew that Stella had felt someone watching her. It was written clear across her face. She glanced around cautiously, putting her guard up in case Stella was right.

((You iz Rulemaster? :)
I'll reply tomorrow/whenever I get the chance. Just finished a 12-hour car trip, and now I'm at the place we're staying in South Carolina. It's a nice little beach house, and we got to bring my dog. xD Probably won't be on very often this week.))

((Heh, okay. Like what?
Nope, Isle of Palms. :) Not going to the beach until later today, so I can post!))
"What's it to you?" Stella snapped automatically. Hesitantly, she put the gun back into its easy-to-reach place on her belt, hidden by her jacket. Then she looked back at Scarlett and sighed. "Not too long after I met you the first time," she started, "I was jumped. By Erasers. Imagine that." She turned a wing, adjusted her direction. "Got the gun off of one of them."

((Awesome post, RedPath. :D))
"Mm," Stella concluded rather dryly. Absently, she wondered whether Scarlett had a weapon of her own. She turned her eyes down below; they were flying over the suburbs again.

((IKR? Came from the heart, it did.))
When they reached one of the great lakes, Scarlett turned Northeast, headed for the Big Apple. "Maybe we'll get thin crust pizza next time."

((Made me tear up a little.))
Stella grinned. "You're lucky we're away from those crowds. Ever been to New York before?"

((Like poetry.))
"Not really. Only passed over it." Scarlett tried to remember what it looked like. "It was like a motherboard. At least, it was from my point of view."

((Poetry is... kind of emo.))
"A motherboard, huh?" Stella repeated. She herself had never been to the city either. "Can't wait, then."

((Nuh uh! It can be funny, like the world's shortest poem:
Jesus

"Same. It never really gets dark there, though." New York was always lit up, either my streetlights or cars. "And it looked really crowded."

Stella nodded, not really having expected anything different. "Crowds are good," she noted, then glanced at the ground again. "You think we can get there before dark?"

Stella shrugged, which was kind of hard to do while in the air. "I'm sure we could find a place outside the city before then if you want."
((What the heck. They made So Random an actual show?))
"Maybe." Scarlett thought about it. "It's better than landing directly in the city. Too many lights." And people
