Savita shoved her forward. "Go!" Spinning on her heel, she reached out and caught his hand, pulling her towards him. "I'll kill you if you die because you tripped," she grunted.

Pyro continued to run, bolting as fast as she possibly could.

He blinked, following her blindly. "Turn left," she called up ahead to Pyro.

Savita narrowed her eyes, attempting to see past Jacob's bulk. "I think we're almost there," she coughed out.

"Fine," she croaked, reemerging from behind them. Blood was streaked down her face, and she looked rather dazed.

"Couldn't agree more," Scarlett turned the handle of the door and stepped out into the sunlight. Up hear, the blaring of car horns and the comotion of people was muffled. The air was cooler and Scarlett took a deep breath. "Lovely."

With a shake, her black wings were out. The silvery streaks glinted. Perhaps they were scars, perhaps they were natural. She didn't know. But they were stiff, and that's something that she understood.

Pyro's eyes widened in shock. "Savita!"

"I'm fine," she repeated, gesturing over her shoulder. "Got caught in another collapse," she coughed.
Jacob was stunned, and he stepped towards her.

Stella shrugged off her jacket and opened her own wings. Unlike Scarlett's dark ones, hers were tawny-colored with brown spots the shade of her hair. They stepped to the edge of the building together, and Stella looked down at the city streets of Chicago. Then she looked sideways at her friend and grinned. "I'm glad that we somehow managed to run into one another," she said, preparing to take a running start into the sky.

Jacob nodded, sliding a hand behind her shoulders and knees, swinging her up. She gasped in surprise, then closed her eyes with relief. "Ow," she mumbled.

"I guess somebody up there decided to do us a favor," she said, grinning. Using the ledge, she sprang forward, off the building. She didn't let herself fall very much. She didn't want to draw any attention, and her wings were in no shape to snap her upward.

I've been watching the new So You Think You Can Dance for the past two hours. Ohmigawd. So epic.))

Stella backed away from the edge, then took a running start and jumped off the building. Before she had become level with the roof again, her wings caught the wind and she flew upwards. She rose quickly towards the clouds, not wanting to be spotted by anyone in the other skyscrapers.

The smoke began the clear, and Pyro slowed down a little.

Savita blinked slowly, squinting a bit. She hadn't told them the whole truth, and she was actually feeling guilty about it.

Pyro sighed. "It's more likely to get infected from all the grimy smoke and stuff flying around now than where we are headed, which is hopefully a nice airy area."

Sighing, he shrugged one shoulder. "Alright, outvoted. I get it."

Huffing, Jacob followed her, more slowly, of course. "Can you walk?"

Scarlett felt like singing. It was great to be in the air again. She felt a laugh bubbling up in her throat and quickly swallowed it, but allowed a large, eager grin to spread across her face. I must look like the Joker. Or at least a crazed clown.

She turned her head to Stella. "Where are we going again?"

"We were talking about New York before," Stella replied. She too was enjoying the chance to stretch her wings again. As they rose higher, the buildings below grew smaller and she could make out all of the criss-crossing streets for miles. In the sky, there was a little breeze but no strong winds; perfect weather for flying. "But we don't really need an exact destination."

Savita was silent, feeling quite a bit uncomfortable now. "Probably," she finally said, to break the silence.

Pyro sighed. "Hold on a sec..." She walked over to Savita, examining the wrappings on her shoulder. "I think she bled more than usual due to the running. It must have caused her heart to beat faster.... We should refresh the wrappings. They'll bleed through soon."

"Now. I don't want her to get worse." Pyro kneeled down, opening the first aid kit she'd brought. She pulled out gaze, and then chewed her cheek, debating injecting Savita with a more powerful medication.
