Peter Meredith (goodreadscompetermeredith) | 4 comments Barlow from Salem's Lot. The proper (non-shiny) vampire, a facade of civility covering an insatiable demand for blood and pain. Fun!

message 5: by Nada (new)

Nada Al-Karmi (nadooush) also voldemort from harry potter

message 6: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) I love Salem's Lot & most of King's early works.

Sayshisweetie | 71 comments Voldemort, the mom from Heart on A Chain, and Prince John

message 14: by Sacha (new)

Sacha (supersonicsacha) I always root for really bad villains to die. I was happy when Voldemort did. There aren't really any other villains that I hate because a lot of them just end up either being crazy or they just disappear.

message 15: by Nada (new)

Nada Al-Karmi (nadooush) not really, kronos in Percy Jackson was sent back to his hole in the underworld cuz he's a titan so he can't die or anything, he didn't go crazy & didn't disappear.

message 16: by Gorfo (new)

Gorfo ya wait, doesn't kronos still exist at the end of the Percy Jackson series?

Sometimes Villains are hard to place. Some walk the line. And some seem good but suddenly you realize they were the root of all the evil in the novel!

ex: Tom Buchanan in the Great Gatsby

message 17: by Starzee (new)

Starzee | 60 comments I haven't read the Great Gatsby. Is it good?

Gorfo Sayshisweetie wrote: "Gorfo wrote: "Cassius from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare"

Cassius is one of the Caesar's underlings. He's the one who really starts the plot because of his greed and jealously of Caesar, he get's Brutus to come around. If it hadn't been for Cassius, Caesar would probably still be alive, or at least might have died peacefully.

message 27: by Sayshisweetie (new)

Sayshisweetie | 71 comments Oh. that Cassius, now I remember. :)

Lord Fujiwara from Tales of the Otori
The dark in The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper

message 30: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (pisarsky) | 14 comments Mildred, in Of Human Bondage. She's a villain, but she's also just like all the rest of us.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a bit of a cheat, but Arnaud Amalric (from Massacre at Monsegur, a history of the Cathars) is a pretty decent villain (Kill them all, and let God identify his own). Samadhi, Moksha and Turiya, the ravers from the Thomas Covenant series are all pretty nasty, and I hated Bernardo Gui from The Name of the Rose.

you're an avatar fan tooo!?!? I make references to Avatar on like a daily basis which earns me a lot of pretty strange looks. Let's not joke though I was also cheering for Fire Lord Ozai a little bit when I saw how handsome he was in the anime. I also cheered for Iroh even when I thought he was nuetral evil!
