Okay end of speech for today. I'm not saying you have to buy new books all the time, but please think about doing so more often.

Here's what works for me:
- Decide on the priority of the challenges you're signing up for. For me PIFM is first, then if the Featured author catches my eye I'll do that one, then the monthly challenge.
- I created a shelf that's my reading-list shelf. That's where I put books I'm going to be reading for the challenges (after they've been chosen) instead of in my tbr shelf. It means I don't have to go into my tbr shelf during the month - which is a good thing because I tend to get sidetracked by pretty shiny bookcovers.
- So, I sign up for the PIFM, and the featured author if I'm interested and get those picks done. Put them on the reading list shelf and then go and check out the monthly challenge. I fill in any books that I don't have / can't make fit from tbr shelf.
- I try to make sure I have a selection of sub-genres on the list so that no matter what reading mood hits I can find something on the list.
- Then I read and read and read and read. And don't beat myself up if I don't get the monthly reading challenge done.
But then I'm a fast reader and read a lot of books in a month. If you're a slower reader and can only read say 5 books in a month then join your challenges accordingly. There's no use saying you'll read 12 books if you realistically can only read 5.

I agree that 12 is too much if you can probably only read 5 ... however, if you usually read 5, make your goal 6 or 7. Shoot for the moon ... even if you miss you end up in the stars.
