Hello Goodreads Malaysia,

Apa khabar group! I'm not too comfortable with writing (and translating- mentally fatiguing) malay, I apologize for my English. However the good news is I still can read malay with ease.

I'm interested in reading some good Malay fiction, particularly if they are about social contemporary issues, and I'm hoping for suggestions. I've been shying away from Malay books because of...
1. excessive focus on Romance. (WHYY?)
2. excessive focus on religion
3. rarely I read any reviews on new Malay fiction. growing up there wasn't much outreach to get us reading Malay novels.
4. lack of interest on my end. Guilty as charged.


Suggestions are extremely appreciated.

I only read Malay books during my secondary school. None ever since, too bad~ I can't recommend any Malay books then hihihi...anyways HI XD

Tomoko, saya tidak tahu jika awak akan menyukai buku ini, Transgenesis oleh Amir Hussaini, tetapi tidak mengapakan sekadar mencadang? Saya suka kerana pengarangnya bijak. Ia bergenre sains fiksyen.

Maybe I can suggest books that have won Hadiah Sastera Utusan? They are mainly for teenagers but still enjoyable for adult reading as well.

Saya bersetuju dengan kak Najibah. Buku-buku Hadiah Sastera Kumpulan Utusan (HSKU) berbaloi untuk dibaca dan material berkesan dalam bahasa Melayu. Boleh dibaca mengikut susunan tahun mengikut tempat yang dimenangi. Selepas rasa selesa dengan bahan bahasa Melayu, boleh bertingkat pula bacaan mengikut direktori pengarang. Masa ini, boleh baca karya mengikut susunan Sasterawan Negara.
