Why couldn't they just put away their differences and get along for the sake of their children?

I think that the parents are really stupid. They should have just let their children be happy and work out their differences like adults.

I also thought that the parents were being stupid and stubborn. They've been fighting each other for years, and disturbed other people in the town. Also, they even get warned with death penalty. It was so frustrating knowing what this would eventually lead them to.
