Avery and (Carter/Eric or any other volunteers) were best of friends when they were younger. They were both crushing on the other and wouldn't say. Then Avery accidentally used the fear magic and they kinda grew apart cuz she was afraid of hurting him.
Then, before she joins the Hunt, they meet up. They spill everything eventually, kiss, heat o the moment stuff and BAM. Prego:)
Then a few days later, she realizes she's got a baby, but she forgets about it in the spur-o-the-moment Hunter joining. She remembers once she joined, discusses it with Artemis, then Artemis takes pity on her and takes off the immortality, but, as a punishment, doesn't let her get abortion.
Because she's half-god, nine-month-pregnancy doesn't count, and so the baby is maturing a lot slower.
Then we're in current time.

@ Gwyn: That sucks. e.e You should have like an army of friends/attorneys come in and bombard your mother. One should be like: "I'll stream each class live from my iPhone on factime." and then the other should be like: "I'll bring home all her homework and work books from her locker, and help her if she has any questions." And then the others talk about how if you go to school, you won't be able to pay attention in your miserable state. And if you just stayed home for one day you'd be able to recover and you'd learn more and not be dozing off in the middle of chemistry.
