Me: To make this even better, the only reason I have a 106 in his class is because I'm a girl. That's not fair to me. If this is true, even though I never thought he was like that, then maybe I should be failing. I could be a truly horrible writer. I thought English was my best subject... Now my whole perspective about him and my work has changed. :/

Just stop talking to him, especially if he's such a douchebag ('it's ok if you have a crush on me' <-- SERIOUSLY?!) and try finding someone else. Tip: Don't try depending on someone. Get a friend that you can support and who supports you. You're not a horrible writer, please don't think that.

And don't say you hate your life. >.< It's just so wrong to think that way and delude yourself into thinking that you do.

Me: My violin teacher doesn't want to give me new, harder stuff, even though I started ever since I was five. I wish I could be like James in The Black Canary. I want both talent and passion. I have neither.

And I wish I could play piano as good as every other person in my conservatory. Yeah. I know what you're talking about. I wish I could play "Flight of the Bumblebee", which I have the sheet music for, but don't have the hand size for.

Me: TRUST ME. At my music academy, everyone's a prodigy. One's already been carted away to Julliard. Ugh, ugh. And I'm the scab of my orchestra. I try to practice but I keep getting lured to my attic, where I can read and draw to my delight.

Me: Jo, where I go, a girl is composing hundreds of scores for not just piano, but for orchestra. She's sending in one of her orchestral pieces to the LAPhil and has the possibility of having them play her piece. A boy in my class has played two Hungarian Rhapsodies (2 and 6). Another boy is playing a piece from Planet Earth. I see them virtually ever school day. I hear them play. Those are just three people.

You need to focus when you practice. Create a story for your piece. If its Baroque, imagine it for a church or something similar. They're dances. Play them as if you're dancing to it. Classical, articulate clearly. Romantic. Filled with Program Music. Make it tell a story. Create a story and portray it through music. Twentieth Century. Avant-garde. Rhythmatic. Make sure it's steady. Make sure its sharp.

Me: You are blowing off what I am trying to tell you. When you play, FOCUS. Even the smallest distractions take away from your playing. Your critics only critique you because they care, although it may not seem like it.

I've gotten the same lecture four times from four different people, one of whom is playing at Carnegie Hall for the second time and is currently in New York, preparing to play. Trust me when I say that I know what I'm talking about.
