Lina Al-Midfa OOOOOH I just saw this!! a discussion on SYTYCD!!
sadly I only watched the 1st 2 seasons, and the latest one I think.... where a Russel won.

It's so saaaaad =( I use to watch them when I was at Uni in the UK, ever since I've been back home I couldn't cos they don't show them in my country!

But since we're reminising (can't spell lol) one of my favourites was a contemprary no. on a bench, I think it was Travis and they were dancing to Celine's Dion "I'm calling you"
everynow and then I go on youtube and get those goosebumps all over again......

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I Loved loved loved! the bench dance! And the ballet with Katie and (oh gosh I can't remember his name!!) it was sooo beautiful and they did it twice.

Oooh! Yes! yes! yes!!! That's the one! I loved it, it was so beautiful! It makes me want to cry. I hated that Will didn't go farther cause he was GREAT and so was Katee!

I didn't like the Melissa and Ade dance at all. I thought it ridiculously overhyped but I'm definitely in the minority here.

Travis is an amazing, amazing dancer but I think he's an even better choreographer! My fav is Kent and Neils contemporary routine

Can you use the embed code?

LOL! "sitting on the floor clutching at the dog."

My spoiled little pooch would have been chewing off my hair, lol.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments :D I know the feeling. Benji gets annoyed when I'm sitting on the couch cause he can't jump that high yet. He likes to crawl on my lap for me to rub his belly while I read...and so he can nibble at my clothes (he's teething *sigh*)

message 58: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol sorry MrsJ! I post a lot from the iPad at work and the links are obviously different. I'll edit the links tonight on the laptop when I get home!

Yaay! :)

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, try all the links again. I went back on the desktop and edited the links so they should work. Let me know :)

Kim Marie | 179 comments Since the topic has digressed to ballroom dancing I hope anyone who has the chance rushes to buy tickets for "Burn The Floor"......spectacular performances and features some former dancers from SYTYCD.

Mrs J, Benji sounds very cute so please post some more photos :)

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol....sidebars are a way of life here, Kim ;) I'd love to see Burn the Floor but I seriously doubt they'll be in the Arkansas area ;)

Kim Marie | 179 comments Grant, you won't hear any complaints from me when a topic turns to dancing :)

Burn The Floor will be performing in Fayetteville on March 29 (guest stars are Anya & Pasha). How far is that from you?

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

Fayetteville is only about four hours from me, Kim. The welcome to Louisiana state line marker is on the other side of my driveway so I'm only in Arkansas by the thinnest of margins. Man, I would love to attend but that's such short notice that I already have plans! I appreciate you checking for me tho.

@ Tracey. Oh that guy is ridiculous. I'm amazed by his perseverance and moreso by his ability. Wish he had better taste in music tho. I despise that song.

message 67: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I love that song! :-) So cute.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol..which is likely why I despise it. It's so Pop. I'm a classic rock kinda guy so guys with femininely high voices singing frou frou pop songs just raise my nausea factor to the n'th level!

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

On the other hand some guys with high voices do it right. For example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VZcrG...

Ahhh City & Colour/Alexisonfire/Dallas Green...that's the good stuff right there.

message 70: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Alexisonfire is a wicked band. I love listening to Rough hands by them.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Can't fault your taste, Kacey :) I got to hang out with them at an afterparty a year and a half ago or so. Freaking fantastic night :)

message 72: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Lucky. I would love to meet them and a few others. I'm a sucker for Classic rock, metal, alt., hard rock. you name it im down. Its a shame though half of the old bands are dying out.

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

They don't die out, their fans do. It's a shame that there's so little loyalty these days. I just got back from The House of Blues a couple of weekends ago for my bday party. Got to see and hang with Edwin McCain and the band Sister Hazel, both of which were pretty huge back in the 90's. I loved them both dearly and getting to meet them was amazing. It's sad how often you can go to a concert these days in a tiny bar/music hall and see a band perform that once upon a time performed for thousands upon thousands. The loyal fans stick with em thankfully tho.

message 74: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Yeah my dad got me into the rock. Some fans just don't know what loyalty is. Same with when A7X drummer Jimmy aka The Rev died. Alot of them turned their backs. I think what hurts the most is when they become mainstream. It kills. The funny thing is when Ronny james Dio died. My parents said "Who" I was like seriously do you not know him. Hello Devil horns, Holy diver. Music nowadays almost makes no sense.

ROTF!!

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

Omg...they didn't know Dio? Wow...and your parents had to be just the right generation to really have been exposed to him...that's just...sad.

And Avenged replaced Rev with Portnoy who he pretty much looked up to but they've kicked Portnoy to the curb since then. I'll actually be seeing them on April 23rd but I'm not really sure whose drumming for them now. I'd gladly step up if they'd take me ;)

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey did those new links work for you MrsJoseph?

message 78: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Yeah my dad used to listen to him and my mom never did. If they take you as their new drummer. I demand i free ticket. xD. What i really miss is headbangers ball. They dont play that anymore. All you see on tv is pregnancy shows and stupid morons who think they are cool.

message 79: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments The world is becoming stupid and I fear for the future. I dont want my kids growing up on crap. xD

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

Heh..never watched it...but then again I've never been a big tv guy. I get my music from other venues. As for being their new drummer well it's highly unlikely :) I've played for pshhhh..like 16 years I guess and still can't work a double bass pedal fast enough to hang with any real metal drummer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSDOP6...

Tim Yeung is freaking Ridiculous on the dbp.

message 81: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Now that is amazing. XD Very wicked. lol They use to play it in like the late 1990's and early 2000's. it kinda died out when we got more rap and mtv just stopped showing rock as much.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow...I just realized where this thread went. Lol..talk about sidebars, eh :)

message 83: by Kacey (new)

Kacey Fontenot (kaceyfontenog) | 10 comments Yes very much so. I believe you wanted a name for your puppy and here we are on Rock.

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol....actually MrsJoseph finally settled on Benji for her new puppy. Ignoring all suggestions from the group I might add *ahem* ;)

message 91: by Bets (new)

Bets (betsdavies) Boy--I usually get rescues so naming involves finding a name that isn't so stupid as the one they have when I get them, but sounds like it.

You could go with a favorite name from a book, but I'm generally against high lighting my geekiness this way. Not everyone's geekiness. It's just my favorite character's names.

A great source is the web. I surf name sites all the time for character names. Sure, there are the general name sites where you may not find something regal, but there are also sites that give ethnic names across the world or ancient surnames and names. Just play around with it.

message 92: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I'm stuck with the "C." otherwise I'd go with Druss or Waylander.

message 93: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Yeah, my fingers are feeling itchy...a re-read looms in the future. :-)

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm..in honor of the Blue Beetle from Dresden, I suggest the Beige Buick ;)

Lol..if that's a bit too blase for you then the Beige Orchid (a nod to Red Seas Under Red Skies). Hmm...do they name the ship at the beginning of Twelfth Night? I can't recall... the only other literary ship I can recall from memory is the Pequod. Doesn't quite fit! Lol.

Hmm...there's always those space operas you love. I'm sure there's a million spaceship names out there you could beg, steal or borrow ;)

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol..I haven't read six books at once in a couple of months. Five is generally my limit. Lately I've been reading five or six a week but back to back rather than bits and pieces at the same time. (It's really not hard by the way....there's always natural stopping points and I only switch around based on my mood...sometimes I crave violence, other times romance)

I kind of like it. Orc for short (he keeps changing the radio station randomly. I frequently hate him.)

I'm kind of thinking Calvin - more like Coolidge than And Hobbes.
