I speak to most people in Dutch so I don't get the chance! I probably would do given the chance, though.

message 674: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Give me a minute and I'll have a look for you Dierdra. :)

Dierdra McGill (dierdramcgill) | 24 comments Thanks so much I figure there should be an option somewhere I just can't seem to find it if there is.

message 676: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Okay, I had a look and it says "showing friends and people you follow" this is around where the date is. and there's a little triangle. If you click the triangle some options come onscreen. :) Hope that helps.

The Silence... of the Lambs.

I've managed to drag Arie downstairs for an evening so I'm making the most of it. Even if we are only watching TV. I'm threatening to make him wear a scarf I'm making - he does not look impressed! XD

Dierdra McGill (dierdramcgill) | 24 comments I can't understand why you would have done something wrong just because people aren't talking! =) I don't talk much on these things but I have a hard time navigating them I am not a fan of how they are laid out but I do enjoy reading threads.

I have issues, I think everything is my fault. This is a fact. :) Aww... it's takes a while to get used to. That's why we've been changing ours a bit because we're trying to make it easier for GR novices.

Haha! Fair enough. I can see why you're making the most of it but I'm not talking to my brother right now... even though he bought me books. Lol! Run Arie, run! xD

Aww, did you brother make a bobo? Bad brother! Though book buying is good. Always good.

Don't tell him to run away! Tell him to wear it! I even bought a nice shade of dusty darker blues for him but he's complaining that he wants black!! I might take him up on that and buy some black wool, make something and force him to wear it.

message 687: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Hallo all!! I've just made plans with my grandma on how she's gonna teach me the skill of quilting... by working with her on my own sampler quilt - I'm actually kinda looking forward to it (and is it me or am I feeling a bit old before my time - next W.I with jam and Jerusalem ;P)

message 688: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) He dropped a bottle of Lucozade, didn't tell me he'd dropped it and I opened it. Can you guess what happened next? There was a massive rant on Twitter, I won't lie. xD

Oh, I thought you might've been going for pink to annoy him. The blue sounds nice. Wear it Arie! It'll be wonderful. No, don't get black, it's so boring. Scarves should all be bright and cheerful. My favourite 2 are pink! xD

Nonsense! I crochet personally. I love it, it chills me out... and forces me to listen to Dickens. xD

Ooh, crochet looks hard, considered looking into taking it up but was too difficult looking :S Good for you!!
I've told grandma I want to hand quilt it (she didn't look impressed but I said I'd do it all ;P) I do think it'd be something to enjoy and she's more than happy to help - plus I get food outta it whenever I visit ;D

It isn't really, nowhere near as hard as knitting. I really can't do that. Oooh, what does hand quilt it mean? (I'm pretty clueless lol)

Mmmm... food. Sounds awesome. I love food. xD

I can't knit - my othe rgrandma does and when I was younger she started me off showed me how to carry on but didn't show me how to stop... I kept going and ended up with a stupidly long, holey scarf!

Hand quilt means all the material, squares, backing, padding etc is attached to each other using hand stitching instead of sewing machine.

It was nice food - steak, home made chips and grilled baby tomatoes followed by raspberry ripple ice cream :D

My mum did that with me and crochet. I have no idea how to stop. At least it's a blanket... it has a lot of holes in it. It's a good job that's meant to happen. :P

Oooh. I can see why she wouldn't be happy. That'll take you an age. I hope you have Dickens! :P

The steak and chips sound good... I don't like tomatoes and ice cream is a MASSIVE no no. :(

Haha, isn't it fun when you don't know how to stop It'll help to keep you warm-ish this winter perhaps???

It took her 2 years of occasional work to do the quilt she has on her bed so says if we work on it on a regular basis it should be about a year. I'll have to consider it really won't I, least most of the work will be done with grandma around to stop the total boredom :P

They also had mushrooms but I don't like mushrooms - they're evil!!

I'm gonna be off the site most of tomorrow during day to to needing to do work... at work ;P I'll be back on tomorrow evening but I gotta go to bed hun (darn early mornings)!! Have a good evening & day tomorrow, speak later :)

Oh it's simply delightful, especially when every time you pull it out you can't get anything done because of the purring lump of fur that's appeared from nowhere and is now on the blanket. xD I'll be lovely and toasty.

Wow! That's a long time. I don't think I'd be able to concentrate for that long. I've been doing my blanket for 6 months but it isn't something you really do in summer. Oh yes. See you're lucky, once I knew what I was doing my mum just left me to it. I was there like "you going? Oh. Bye mum". :P

They are very evil. I don't like mushrooms either.

Aww okay, night hun. Sweet dreams and enjoy work (if that's possible). Speak soon. :)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Okay, random question: When someone has a nickname and you want them to know do you put a.k.a. or is it aka or is it something else entirely? (I'm deciphering a review I stupidly wrote at midnight.)

message 699: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Rea's favourite grammar dude is on my twitter feed. xD I saw it and smiled. I was thinking of the tweet sized rants. :D

message 700: by Rea, Ghost (new)

My GR has gone weird, it's not been telling me about new messages for a few days and now I apparently have 84 unread posts in Random, but really it's only two... :/ Confuzzling GR.

@nicknames - You can write it either way (a.k.a. or aka). I suppose that's a good way to refer to someone with a nickname. When I'm signing mails from my address that uses my name, I always sign Becca - aka Rea.

@grammar dude - Oh yeah!! Those tweet-sized rants were fun! XD How'd you get him? :P Some of the stuff he writes is good but a lot of it is very basic prescription rules when there's an awful lot more to it than just what he puts.
