Bloodlines is essentially a continuation of the Vampire Academy series, changing from following Rose and Dimitri to following a character introduced in book 4, another who didn't get much attention till book 6 and "the other guy".
A lot of ideas introduced in the last VA book must carry over into Bloodlines. I was seriously peeved that Last Sacrifice didn't offer an actual conclusion to the series as so much was left open.

I haven't read Bloodlines, so it might be possible to read it without having read VA, but as I say, Mead leaves a lot open at the end of VA that she must be picking up again in BL. :(

Aww sorry Jeshu. It might have been a right place, right time thing for me. I loved the world building and the setting.
I'm reading

I have a copy of 1984 and noticed it was one of the BotM options, so I am going to start this and try and finish before the end of the month, so I can contribute and start the August BotM on time!

It wasn't for me. I got bored and abandoned it. Hope you have better luck with it!
