Nope, but, I, too have a shelf for unread books that I'll try again (I may have even gotten the idea from Gorfo!!!)

I don't think I've ever finished Gibran's "The Prophet", but I've certainly read it. Some books are just set up to browse around in, and not to read in a linear way. There's a lot to be said for books that can be opened to any page, interest you for a bit, and then be put aside until the next time, which could be weeks or months or years away.
I never really know quite how to list those books, actually. It depends, I think, on how familiar I think I've gotten with the book, how much I've read of it, etc. There are books I don't count because I didn't finish them because they were so boringly predictable I felt as though I had read them, many times, in fact!

But generally if I've read a book halfway and given up it's because something about it has disgusted me so much that I can't even continue to read. To me these are "read" since they've affected me in so powerful a way! On the other hand, if you make it to the early chapters of a book....you haven't read it. If you open it and put it down you haven't read it. Just delete it from your books.
No way. If I can't finish it, it remains unread. I won't skip to the ending either. On the other hand, there aren't many books that I can't finish.
If I start a book and then abandon it, I then unceremoniously chuck it back on my TBR. But then I'm always a little afraid of it and often never try again!
I created a couldn't finish bookshelf for the books I couldn't finish, but I'm never sure how to list them in the read, currently reading, TBR section. I didn't read them, I'm not currently reading it and the chance of me trying again is slim!

It depends on how far I've reached. If I'm halfway through and can't finish it I skim over the rest. But most times I just force myself to finish a book.
For me, I put the books i couldn't finish into an exclusive shelf like "Unfinished" and also into "read"
"read", because i have tried to read it but couldn't keep it infinitely onto my currently read shelf.

that's a good idea!
Yes, because I always finish my books, no matter how much I don't like them. So that's a big fat zero :D.
There are so few that I own that I haven't read.... No. If I didn't finish a book, I don't count it as read. A couple get categorized as "sleep aids" and one or two are "door-stops." If it is a book by an author I otherwise like, I will try again on the possibility that the time just wasn't right or I was in the wrong mood.
For me, it's a NO.. either I leave it as "currently reading" or I remove it, like "unread" ..if it has been a long time since i read the good early part of it, I re-start the book.. As much as possible, I want to finish the books I've started as respect for the author
I've been fortunate in picking good books so I rarely have one unread. If I decide it's not worth my time I put it down as an "unread" and not likely to pick it up later.
About a year ago, I moved into a much smaller apartment and got rid of about 5000 books by donating them to various places. I can honestly say that of those 5000 books, there were maybe 10 that I was not of a mind to finish. I debated keeping them, but decided that even if I was not enjoying them, someone else might. I did keep about 100-150 books, of which there are 2 or 3 I hadn't finished, but plan to. I don't feel that I lost anything by not finishing those books. And they weren't bad books, or even badly written, they just were books that I didn't enjoy. I generally feel that I can get something out of any book whether or not it is a "good" book. Sometimes it is just the knowledge that I will never read that author again. But, in the case of those 10 or so books, it was a case of attempting to read them on several different occasions and never feeling good about reading them.
