Haha! Yes! It really is a good idea!

There are books I don't count because I didn't finish them because they were so boringly predictable I felt as though I had read them, many times, in fact!

A clever solution santosh! But generally if I've read a book halfway and given up it's because something about it has disgusted me so much that I can't even continue to read. To me these are "read" since they've affected me in so powerful a way! On the other hand, if you make it to the early chapters of a book....you haven't read it. If you open it and put it down you haven't read it. Just delete it from your books.

just mark it as read because you did read it, just not completely!

You can make it an exclusive shelf so it won't count on any other shelf.

For me, I put the books i couldn't finish into an exclusive shelf like "Unfinished" and also into "read"
"read", because i have tried to read it but couldn't keep it infinitely onto my currently read shelf.

No. If I didn't finish a book, I don't count it as read. A couple get categorized as "sleep aids" and one or two are "door-stops." If it is a book by an author I otherwise like, I will try again on the possibility that the time just wasn't right or I was in the wrong mood.
