Neko Fair enough Davina! Hehehe, attacking the books seems cute but it would be frustrating. Ah well, atleast she is showing a keen interest in what you are up too :)

-

HUZZAH...I finished another book for this challenge. I didn't think I was going to actually finish another book.

Crack House by Harry Keeble It's not really a huge read but I'm really dragging while reading lately :F

Interesting book..Not for everyone and I'm sure it could easily bore some people. Opened my eyes to the world of cocaine though.

So that's my 4th book finished...Still in the middle of Factory Girls: From Village to City in a Changing China though.

Well done Laura!!! :)

message 303: by Emily (new)

Emily | 83 comments I managed to finish another two while away in Melbourne.
1. Colours of Autumn - Ransom by David Malouf
6. Reduce - Imperium by Robert Harris

Ransom was alright, it wasn't my favourite book to read but I loved Imperium, maybe because its based around my HSC topics for ancient history, so all the names and events were easier to understand. Still very good though.

message 304: by Davina (new)

Davina | 154 comments Go Laura. I will follow your good example and finish that book and yes Holly slobbering on a book is very cute as long as it's her book my eldest is of the same opinion as long as it's not her books or toys. We both have ten little fingers and we're going on a bear hunt memorised.(Holly's books, maybe I'll have to figure out a way to use then for my challenges.)

Maggie Khenan "Being stuck on Dracula for ages..uni work clogging up :( "

I hear you Khenan. I'm meant to be writing a presentation today that is due very soon, cant seem to get into it. Also have a huge case study due soonish too. Not helping that the guy next door has just started up his band saw or chain saw or something.

message 306: by Khenan (new)

Khenan Bragador | 140 comments Haha i know what you mean :( Good luck :P

Finally finished Dracula! Better than i expected, though i wish i had read it before seeing any of the movies.. Now onto Swiss Family Robinson. Read it many times but its an old favorite :D

Good luck :)

And yes, do try and work in Holly's books someway! Perfect time :D!

Khenan Bragador | 140 comments Just finished Swiss Family Robinson. A good read as always :D Though this time after reading some reviews about how much killing there is..i sure noticed it much more. I guess as i read it first as a child it was about the adventure more than the killing so i never really noticed :P It didn't really ruin the book but it was a different reading experiences i'd have to say, interesting :) Quickly doing my April reading challenge book then onto Les Miserables.. !

Maggie Just finished The Copper Beech. This was a re-read for me and only 2 stars. Ok to while away an afternoon, no thinking required.

Now I'm about to start Murder at Mansfield Park, quite different I'm guessing. Then only one to go after that, Factory Girls: From Village to City in a Changing China.

Sure, sure I'm meant to be writing my presentation which is due soonish, but these books are intriguing!

message 311: by Neko (new)

Neko Nice work Maggie! Factory Girls is interesting but I've kinda hit a hump in the book and it's not as interesting...I won't say exactly what but it kinda derails sorta so don't be suprize. But you might find that part interesting as well..ehehe

message 312: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Hmmm.....now I'm really intrigued!

Maggie Struggling with Murder at Mansfield Park.

It gets such a wide variety of reviews I don't know whether to continue with it or not? You know, life's too short......?

I'm a bit afraid it's one of those books cashing in on Austen's popularity, similar to the sequels that have been released along the lines of what happens next. In this book the characters are totally different. For those of you familiar with Mansfield Park the original story revolves around Fanny Price, a poor relation. In this current book she is wealthy, the not-so-nice Miss Crawford is lovely, and so on.

Cograts on finishing the challenge and it's only April, we a month to go.

message 323: by Neko (new)

Neko Started Callgirl last night and gobbled up 107 pages very quickly. So, I can imagine getting through this book quicker than Factory Girls: From Village to City in a Changing China but thankfully the book has picked up as well.

message 324: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 328 comments Thanks Maggie and Bronwyn. It's been easier to get some reading done with all the rain keeping me inside. Lovely Autumn weather will now have me outside doing some work.

message 325: by Davina (new)

Davina | 154 comments Yes. (fist pump) I followed Laura's good example and I finished The Gift I did have to reborrow it from the library though. Even better I recieved City of Fallen Angels in the mail so I might get through another book for this challenge after all.

message 326: by Emily (new)

Emily | 83 comments I finished my 6th book for this challenge.
9. Way of Shadows - Brent Weeks.

It was a bit slow at the start but picked up at the end when I finally learnt everyones names (and alternative names).

Only 2 to go.

Jacinta Hoare | 62 comments Good morning everyone!

When I was in Sydney for Easter my sister and I exchanged some books so I have added one of them to my Autumn list in the category of re-cycle. :D

I have now read Year of Wonders a historical fiction set in Plague torn England of 1666. The book has interesting characters and story line and I gave it 4 stars.

My list is now ....

1. Shades of Autumn - A Fortunate Life
2. Strong Female Lead - The Girl Who Played with Fire.
3. St Patrick's Day - Trinity

4. Labour Day - undecided.
5. Dr Suess' Birthday - nope, probably wont do this, my son at age 21 wouldn't see the humour at all.
6. Reduce - Voyager
7. Re-read - undecided but I rarely re-read books
8. Recycle (library) - Year of Wonders
9. Ides of March - Prince of Darkness
10. Short Stories - nothing pops up yet but I think I will look at some of the stories written by women of the Afghan Women's Writing Project http://www.awwproject.org/
