Need Help with a title - this is eating my brain!

A long time ago (at least 12-15 years) I read a book that was about a woman who lived in an old house and there was a weird buzzing in the walls. Eventually it turned out that there were bees in the walls... thousands and thousands of bees and she was slowly transformed into their new queen and the house became the hive. I don't remember the author, I don't remember the title, but I remember it was a horror mass market of some sort. Helpful yes? ;)

If anyone has ANY idea what book this might be I would be greatly appreciative as it has been torturing me for weeks now. Does it sound familiar to anyone else?
